Cleveland native Chrome, who currently resides in Nashville, has been riding a wave of resurgence in recent years, as his pre-Dead Boys band Rocket From The Tombs (which spawned both the Dead Boys and Pere Ubu) were the subject of a critically acclaimed career retrospective CD called The Day The Earth Met The... (Phantom/Smog Veil). The success of the album prompted a well-received nationwide tour and brand new studio album, Rocket Redux (Morphius Records). Along the way, Chrome was called upon by Pearl Jam to jam with them on their set standard, "Sonic Reducer," at the Amsouth Amphitheater in Nashville. Dead Boys songs continue to be featured on many soundtracks and countless compilation albums and box sets, have been the subject of a slew of live, reissue and rarities albums, and have been covered by the likes of Pearl Jam, Guns 'n' Roses, Supersuckers, Michael Monroe, The Dictators, Overkill, Jeff Dahl, Poison Idea, The Streetwalkin' Cheetahs, and more, keeping their name and fearsome reputation alive.
When rock fans think of the legendary late '70s CBGB New York scenes, the Dead Boys are mentioned right along with the Ramones, the New York Dolls, Talking Heads and Blondie.
Cheetah Chrome on tour in 2004 proves that some legends never die, they just get better.
