AC/DC singer Brian Johnson says the band is working on a new album. Speaking to Punk.bz, Johnson said, "Malcom and Angus (Young) are in the studio. There’s an album in the works, and a tour, too, I think. The boys are working’ on something special. They don’t want to do just another album."
Rammstein's Völkerball DVD, released in Europe in November 2006 through Universal, will be issued domestically in North America in September. An exact release date has not been confirmed but is expected to be announced soon.
Call him "Doctor." After 30 years, Queen guitarist Brian May has finished his PhD thesis. May began as a student back in 1970 but after years of studying “interplanetary dust,” he stopped studying for his doctorate when Queen hit it big. According to Yahoo News, his interest in the subject was reignited when he co-authored the book Bang! The Complete History of the Universe, which tells the story of the universe from the big bang through its subsequent evolution which was released last year. The rocker will receive his PhD next May, assuming his thesis is approved by supervisors.
Joe Satriani has announced some initial dates for his Surfing With The Alien 20th Anniversary tour where he will be performing his legendary album from 1988 in it's entirety. Dates include: August 15-18 in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and an exclusive "in-studio" show in San Francisco where Surfing album was recorded.
Queensryche's newly released live DVD, Mindcrime At The Moore, makes an impressive debut at #1 on the Billboard Top Music DVD Chart. This marks the band's first ever #1 chart debut. The double DVD set, released July 3 from Rhino, captures Queensryche's performance of both Operation: Mindcrime I and II in their entirety in front of a rabid hometown crowd at Seattle's Moore Theatre. The marathon show includes a full theatrical production complete with surround sound, video imagery, actors portraying the concept albums' characters onstage with the band, and a special appearance from the Seattle Seahawks drum line.
