Joe Satriani's official web site, www.satriani.com, is reporting that the forthcoming G3 2003 DVD will be released in February 2004. The DVD was recorded during the October 20th show at Denver, Colorado and the October 21st show at Kansas City, Missouri on the G3 2003 tour and features performances by Satriani, Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen.

David Holland, 55, who played with the heavy metal band Judas Priest in the 70s and 80s, faces one charge of attempted rape and five counts of indecently assaulting a 17-year-old youth with special needs who visited his home for lessons.  Maria Savvides, prosecuting at Northampton Crown Court, said the alleged incidents came to light in December 2002 when the teenager sent a letter to his parents implying the abuse.  The boy's parents had encouraged the drumming lessons to improve their son's self-esteem.  As the relationship between teacher and pupil grew, they had allowed their son to stay over at his home on a number of occasions.  "The letter revealed that things were happening at his drum teacher's house that should not have been happening," Miss Savvides told the court.

Stratovarius has announced a brand-new vocalist Katriina Wiiala (a.k.a. Miss K) and states that she has spent the last four years fronting a "melodic hard rock" band called Aurora K, with whom she performed a number of gigs in addition to recording a two-song single, titled 11th Hour.

Damageplan, the new band featuring former Pantera members Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul, will be hosting MTV2's Headbanger's Ball on Saturday, January 24th  at 10:00 p.m. EST. The group's video for Breathing New Life has been named the Headbanger's Ball "Bang of the Week"

Queensryche will be issuing a DVD, titled The Art of Live, on March 24th. The disc will contain "live and backstage footage and some special extras.", per the band's website www.queensryche.com

CRPN's NOTES:

  • The recent internet reports that Slayer was going to play a gig in Arizona have been confirmed as totally untrue, per emails between Sanctuary Management and Blabbermount.net.  The rumors remain just wishful thinking.
  • Deicide have shot their first video, Scars of the Crucifix, which is the title track off their debut record on Earache Records.
  • The last hospitalized survivor of the Rhode Island nightclub fire last year has returned home to continue recovery, according to the Associated Press.
  • Aerosmith and Cheap Trick will be teaming up for a North American tour starting in April.
  • Anthrax's Scott Ian is engaged to longtime girlfriend Pearl Aday, the oldest daughter of Meatloaf.
  • World-renowned fashion photographer Francesco Scavullo, who took the photographs for the KISS album Dynasty, has died in New York at the age of 82, according to Reuters.
  • Former Fight members Brian Tilse and J.J. (guitar and bass respectively) have officially joined Lollipop Lust Kill.

The album will feature songs originally done by Humble Pie, Mott The Hoople and Silverhead just to name a few. The recording is being done at Field Of Dreams studios in Las Vegas, NV features Kevin DuBrow on vocals, Kevin Curry on guitar, German bassist Gunter Nezhoda and former Badlands/UFO drummer and Racer X vocalist Jeff Martin. The album is being engineered by former Great White member Michael Lardie, who also adds keyboards to the album.
