Metallica will release Vinyl Box on October 26th through Elektra/Rhino Vinyl, which will include special editions of their first four studio albums, as well as Garage Days Re-Revisited and the picture disc Creeping Death. Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets and ...And Justice for All have been expanded to double-vinyl sets on 180-gram audiophile vinyl with new gatefold jackets. Guitarist Wes Borland has rejoined Limp Bizkit. With Borland back in the picture, vocalist Fred Durst has shelved songs created after Borland’s departure, which included guitar riffs courtesy of Al Jourgensen of Ministry and Head of Korn. No word if these tunes will ever see the light of day. Limp Bizkit don’t anticipate releasing a new album for quite some time.

Kittie has been forced to cancel the remaining dates of its current tour due to the hospitalization of drummer Mercedes Lander. Lander, who was hospitalized in Cleveland Wednesday due to severe dehydration and exhaustion, has returned home to Canada and has been re-admitted to the hospital. The band had originally intended to continue the tour when Lander was released from the hospital yesterday, but a decision was made late last night to return to Canada to allow the drummer to fully recover. The cancelled dates will be rescheduled on the next leg of the tour in the fall. The band’s latest album, Until the End, was released July 27.

Fates Warning will release a brand spankin' new album, titled FWX, on October 5th through Metal Blade.

Machine Head are currently out on the road, co-headlining with Chimaira on the first installment of the ‘Road Rage Tour.’ The tour recently kicked off, and goes through September 5th. Machine Head then head to the UK to headline by themselves. For all the tour dates, check out Pollstar.com.

Fight! Fight! At a recent gig at the Rolling Rock Festival in Latrobe, PA, Disturbed and Finch literally came to blows, stemming from a two-year conflict. As Finch was about to take the stage, apparently the fists started flying. You know you love the drama...

This just in! From Nightwish via their official website: "Unfortunately the shows in Toronto, Montreal and Philadelphia had to be cancelled due to visa problems. Our US Visa applications were filed early enough at the end of March 2004, so the U.S. Immigration Office is the one responsible for not being able to handle these applications within this 4, 5 months of time. There was never anything we could have done but wish for some co-operation from their side. The result is as seen. We are very sorry for this and we understand that many of you are pissed. So are we. Big time. Naturally we will do everything we can to make this up and as soon as possible. The rest of the US shows will happen as scheduled. Wishing you all the best,” Tuomas Holopainen & Nightwish.

Audioslave are currently in the studio with mega-producer Rick Rubin, and are about half-way finished recording the 22 songs they have written for their sophomore album. No word yet on the scheduled release date of that, so stay tuned for more details.

From Metal Blade Records: [We are] very happy to announce that we have just signed the Virginia based metalcore act Winter Solstice. Starting in 2001, Winter Solstice has secured an underground following by playing with bands such as Norma Jean, As I Lay Dying, The Black Dahlia Murder, Between the Buried and Me, Living Sacrifice, Silverstein, and Bury Your Dead, just to name a few. The bands most recent EP was recorded at Cloud City Studios (The Black Dahlia Murder, Walls of Jericho) by Mike Hasty of Wall of Jericho in January 2004. The band will head back to Cloud City Studios in Detroit, MI in October to start recording their debut full-length release that will be out on Metal Blade Records in the winter of 2005.

Fu Manchu will release their latest effort, Start the Machine, on September 14th through DRT Records.

In Flames have announced two rare US appearances:

09/26/04 Los Angeles, CA The Roxy
09/29/04 New York, NY CBGB

At this year’s ProgPower USA V, Ben Jackson and Midnight, of Crimson Glory fame, will join together with Timo Kotipelto (ex-Stratovarious) and vocalist Rob Rock. From more info, check out ProgPowerUSA.com.

Swedish grindcore band Nasum have finished work on their album Shift and expect to see the release in October, 2004, through Relapse Records. Stay tuned for details.

Southern Lord Records have re-released Saint VitusV on both CD and vinyl. The CD version includes a video of Wino’s very first show with the band. Check out SouthernLord.com for details.

Adema recently inked a contract with Earache Records. Their debut album on the label should see a release in January. So far, the band has slated a few gigs in Hollywood and Seattle coming up in October.

Grave will release Fiendish Regression in Europe on August 23rd and in the U.S on September 7th. The European CD version will initially be a limited edition, which features a special slipcase package and 2 bonus tracks. A vinyl version will also be released.
