Blabbermouth.net reports the following: Vocalist John Morrow (Murder One/Ex-Iron Monkey) was found dead in his apartment on Saturday morning, June 22nd, by his housemate, guitarist Jim Rusby (ex-Iron Monkey).
"We don't know what's happened," drummer Justin Greaves (ex-Iron Monkey) told Metal Hammer Magazine. "He played on Friday with Murder One and he was [in] fine form, and then his housemate Jim, our old guitarist, found him dead. He was waiting for a kidney transplant and was on dialysis, but he wasn't ill. He's one of the few people that I'd count as a real friend... I was even going to ask him to be my best man at my wedding, and he didn't know."
At the time of his death, John had reportedly been working on an Iron Monkey live/compilation album. The record will now be issued as a memorial to the singer.
According to UBL.Artistdirect.com, after releasing a self-titled six-song mini-album in 1996, the band gained a fair amount of appreciation in the underground. Rumors abounded that Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo was listening to the self-titled release when he overdosed on heroin in 1996.
