For Immediate Release:

JIM MATHEOS/KEVIN MOORE/MIKE PORTNOY Project Named OSI;
Debut Album ORCHESTRA OF STRATEGIC INFLUENCE To Be Released This Fall On INSIDEOUT MUSIC AMERICA

The highly anticipated project featuring guitarist Jim Matheos (Fates Warning), keyboardist Kevin Moore (Chroma Key, formerly of Dream Theater) and drummer Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater, Transatlantic) now has an official name -- OSI.

OSI will release its debut album, Orchestra of Strategic Influence, in fall 2002 on InsideOut Music America. IOMA Managing Director Jim Pitulski expects this album to be one the label's biggest sellers to date.

Matheos, Moore and Portnoy are the core of the band, and Moore does most of the lead vocals, but 'Orchestra of Strategic Influence' will also feature special guest vocalists to be announced, and guest bass guitarist Sean Malone (Gordian Knot).

Recording of Orchestra of Strategic Influence is taking place at Carriage House Studios in Connecticut with Grammy Award-winning engineer Phil Magnotti.

Listeners can expect to be surprised. According to Matheos, musically speaking the album is "not Fates Warning, not Dream Theater and not Chroma Key."

A limited edition, multimedia version of Orchestra of Strategic Influence will also be available and include concept videos from Moore as well as documentary footage.

For future updates, visit IOMA's web site: www.insideoutmusic.com.

This should be very different. I am glad that Jim, Mike and Kevin have joined forces. I have been waiting for this for some time. They are all great in the work they create and for them to be joining together should be very interesting. TheEdibleEgg (DT and FW) have been long standing good friends they have even toured together. Mike has done many side projects and so has Kevin. Mike likes to keep busy as does all the guys in DT. If you look at what all the members in DT have done over the years you would see they like to stay busy, and with that they stay creative in the work they put out. Hey how many of you have gone to shows that are more dominated by females and what type of music is it. I did not know that because you go to a show of your favorite band that is mostly males has any thing to do with getting laid, the only shows were I saw a huge female crowd was say (Posion,DLR,Bon Jovi) the list can go on but the point is made. I would love to know what bands (Dominator94) listens to. Best of luck to these guys.

yeah!

I can't wait till this album comes out. . . . it's going to be very interesting. The members are all great musicians and have a lot to say in there playing. Progressive Metal or any Progressive for that matter is the place to be. And for all you haters out there. . . . Progressive music is for the people with talent not for the people without. Now don't get me wrong I have a large collection of different styles that I listen to but Progressive is the most versatile music out there. To be able to mix jazz, blues, metal, rock or anything else isn't easy. . . . and to make it sound good is even harder. Dream Theater Rules! And I agree with i_love_taz 100% I happen to be one of those happily married people who loves Prog. So yes most people that listen to Prog. probably are married.

i_love_taz - 7/22/2002 1:03:01 PM
I don't mean to suggest that you have to be a progger to be a good person, just that a little progressive thinking is good for you. :) Life is more than just sex, ya know.

i_love_taz - 7/22/2002 12:59:54 PM
All guys who don't get laid much? Hmm, interesting. I'm sure there are a good deal of female fans who like DT and other prog bands. (One person has such a site at http://www.geocities.com/sdominick/. Just a satisfied fan.) You guys are too quick to judge. At least most of the best proggers I've heard have put out interesting loads of albums, instead of wasting time with how much money they have (not that that doesn't matter), how they'll get laid, where they'll get their next load of heroin, etc. Most of the prog musicians I know of are happily married too (and I suspect a good deal of the guys and gals in the audience too). Just my $0.02

megabreath90 - 7/22/2002 12:38:44 PM
i don't think so eddible egg jim has a great thing going with fates warning and as fa as all you other clowns putting down progressive metal will go back to your room and listen to korn or limp shitskit!these guys can't even play their instruments or sing!fuck you!

budwhysr - 7/22/2002 12:28:30 PM
I didn't say that. I was making an observation of the type of people i saw there.

Fretslayer - 7/22/2002 11:51:27 AM
So you guys listen to music just so you can get laid??Pathetic..

budwhysr - 7/22/2002 10:57:11 AM
dominator hit it on the head. I had the misfortune of attending a Dream Theater show. The crowd was basically all guys, a bit on the dorky side, who probably didn't get laid much. Not too much fun. It was a two hour fest of "look how well i can sing and play".

dominator94 - 7/22/2002 10:45:58 AM
I hate these progressive bands. It reminds me of a 35 year old guy who can't get laid...so all he does is sit in his house on Friday nights to jerk off. OK..that being said...let the foul language injected rants on me begin!!!!!!

i_love_taz - 7/22/2002 7:35:43 AM
Sure is, bud. Can you say Europe, Asia, and most other places besides the good ol' U.S.A. ?

budwhysr - 7/21/2002 7:35:58 AM
Is there really a market for this stuff?

TheEdibleEgg - 7/19/2002 9:00:58 PM
Here is what is going on: Jim Matheos has this longing desire to be in Dream Theater and this is his closest thing to nailing it. Mike Portnoy is in it purely for the money (Hes getting paid more than anyone) and Kevin Moore is in it for the paycheck as well. Kevin has no interest in anything resembling DT or FW until the check comes. These guys were hardly even in the same room together, its not like they are all friends and hang out. The inital singer from POS was fired because his lyrics and melodies sucked. Too bad for him, it was a pipe dream come true until they canned him. Another reason for firing him was it was one less guy to pay since Portnoy wanted so much money. It was easier to pay Kevin a bit more to ad vocals. Regardless, I DO think it will be intersting.

FeverDream - 7/19/2002 8:00:07 PM
Jordan Rudess is amazing and Sherinian(is that right?) was no slouch either, but I feel Dream Theaters best Music was with Moore! So I look forward to this Greatly!I agree with GHOSTRIDER on the name though. I would go with "the Awesome Sum Bitches"!

rockercat - 7/19/2002 6:25:45 PM
all I can say is....FUCK YEH!!!
