Kiss' Paul Stanley Discusses Forthcoming Tour; Ramones Tribute Album

Stanley Speaks Up About Going

Blabbermouth.net reports the following Kiss news from Paul Stanley:

Kiss frontman Paul Stanley has admitted that he and bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons have changed their minds about "going out on top" with the group's never-ending Farewell tour, but has denied that money is the sole motivating factor behind the decision to keep touring.

"People do change their minds and in this case that goes along with being a living, thinking person," Stanley stated in a question-and-answer session posted on Kiss' official web site. "What one says one day with total commitment may at another time turn out not to be so. Am I doing this for the money or the fans? BOTH, and let's not forget I'm doing this for me. That is the reason I originally started playing: because I wanted to, and only I can decide ultimately when to stop. As you know (assuming that you have a job) it is great to have both the appreciation of those around you and to be compensated financially."

Stanley also shed some more light on Kiss' contribution to the upcoming The Ramones tribute album, We're a Happy Family, which includes the group's rendition of the classic "Do You Remember Rock & Roll Radio?"

"I frequently run into Johnny Ramone and about a month ago he told me about the The Ramones tribute album and asked if we would participate. I can remember our club days and seeing Joey Ramone standing a head above everyone else! Having come after us, we certainly can't say we were influenced by them, but they were from New York and this seemed like a fun project. Gene, [drummer] Eric [Singer] and I recorded a track called ['Do You Remember Rock & Roll Radio?'] We used a big saxophone section done by Scott Paige who tours with Pink Floyd and Derek Sherinian on piano, you may remember him from playing keys on the Revenge tour. Gene and I trade off vocals, and I have to say this is as cool and kick ass as it gets! It's a really cool track and I think you'll love it!"

I have been going to school to stay out of trouble. I have been going to school to study the guitar. I am very broke and have to go to a concert this weekend for my class. I have to work with a lot of counselors and I haven't been to the computor for a couple of weeks so I am happy that they are going on tour.

Bottom line is this. If you are a KISS fan then you would never want to see KISS leave the stage. Yes it is true that KISS is getting older. But I hear people that say that other bands work harder. I am going to Ozzfest because I do love the new stuff. But can you believe the people are naive enough to think that getting up on stage and jumping aroung for thirty minutes as an opening act is working hard. What I can't believe is these acts like the Stones (God Bless them) are charging $300 for face value tickets to see a show. Or the Eagles getting upwards of $150 a ticket. Let's not even talk about the scalpers prices either. So when you say KISS is in it for the money then I hope you are one of us that get up every morning and go to work because, guess what, it is about the money. Now quit bitching before KISS tickets go to over a hundred instead of the $31.50 I paid to sit 4 rows up. Now quit bitching about Gene and Paul, continue with bitching about Ace and Peter, and got get your take in life.

zZtevie - 8/2/2002 7:21:34 PM
Who cares if they tour again, kiss fans are suckers...they can't see it's the same show since 1977.

zZtevie - 8/2/2002 7:20:35 PM
Are they pathetic or what ??
