As we reported last week in the Newswire, New York punk legends The Ramones lead the pack of inductees into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Announced Thursday, December 13th, the list also includes fellow New Yorkers Talking Heads, soul legend Isaac Hayes, rockers Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Sixties pop stars Gene Pitney and Brenda Lee, and the late Chet Atkins in the sidemen category. Stax Records (Hayes, Otis Redding, Staple Singers) co-founder Jim Stewart is also nominated, as a non-performer. The 17th annual Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony will take place March 18th in New York, and will be broadcast March 20th on VH1.
