While the Rolling Stones are rehearsing numbers in Toronto for their upcoming fall tour, the usual slagging between the Glimmer Twins, Keith Richards and Mick Jagger continues, albeit the longest running soap opera in rock and roll.
Stones guitarist Keith Richards seems to agree with many of the rants that have been posted on the KNAC.com website in the last several months when it comes to his lead singer, Mick Jagger. Richards has now been referring to Mick Jagger’s latest solo album, Goddess In The Doorway under a different name, calling it “Dogshit In The Doorway.”
Equally nauseated (or amused) over Mick’s name change to Sir Michael Philip Jagger after having been knighted by the Queen this year, Richards labels it, “a paltry honor.” Richards also sniffed, “He’s joining the brown noses,” apparently referring to other two other knighted rock musicians, Sir Elton John and Sir Paul McCartney. Keith has also teased Mick about all this pomp and circumstance, jokingly advising his vocalist, “Hold out for the lordship, mate.”
Jagger is apparently dealing with it in stride. The band reportedly has now practiced approximately 58 different songs as of last Friday.
A Rolling Stones double CD greatest hits collection is slated for release by Virgin Records on October 1st.
