The Doors will be performing tonight, September 6th, at the California Motor Speedway in Fontana, CA and again on September 29th at the Molson Park in Barrie, ONT, Canada. The Doors now consists of: original members keyboardist Ray Manzarek and bassist Robby Krieger, vocalist Ian Astbury (The Cult), and will be joined by drummer Stewart Copeland (The Police), filling in for original drummer John Densmore, who is currently battling a hearing disorder. Rumor has it the group may tour the US and Europe in 2003, and then proceed to the studios to record a new album.

Saliva is ready to release their second album, Back Into Your System, on November 12th. Once again, the band has recruited mega-producer Bob Marlette. The album features the track “Rest In Pieces,” which was written by bassist Nikki Sixx (Motley Crue).

Speaking of Nikki Sixx, he’s currently working on inking the details of a Motley Crue movie with Paramount and MTV. He says, “If all goes well, there will be a farewell tour,” although he doesn’t specify who will be saying ‘farewell’ along side him… His “new” band will begin rehearsals in three weeks. The band’s current lineup is himself on bass, drummer Kris Kohl (Adema), guitarist Tracii Guns (LA Guns), vocalist London and an “un-named” second guitarist.

Incubus will reissue their last album, Morning View, which will include a bonus DVD, on October 1st. The DVD will include live tracks, a UK video for "Are You In?" and behind-the-scenes footage.

Drummer Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater) will appear “face to face” at Cherry’s Music in Somers Pt., NJ at 2 PM on September 13th, 2002.

And speaking of Dream Theater, bassist John Myung and vocalist James LaBrie’s side-project, Explorer's Club 2 just released their album, Raising The Mammoth. Also featured on the album is drummer Terry Bozzio (Missing Persons), guitarist Marty Friedman (ex-Megadeth), keyboardist/vocals Trent Gardner (Magellan), as well as vocalist Steve Walsh and guitarist Kerry Livgren (both of Kansas), among other musicians.

Macabre wants your children! On Wednesday, September 18th, Macabre will be doing a photo shoot for their debut recordings release of their acoustic campfire songs. They need children to sit around the campfire with Corporate Death and Nefarious. The campground is in Romeoville, IL and the shoot will take place one hour before sundown. They are inviting parents that want to bring out their kids to e-mail [email protected] and let them know how many kids you have and their ages. The dress code will be classic country campfire. Marshmallows and refreshments will be provided and the parents and children will get special thanks within the CD.

Vocalist Sebastian Bach’s father, David Bierk passed away last Wednesday. Bierk, an artist, had painted Skid Row’s Slave To The Grind album cover, which was voted 4th Best Album Cover in 1991 by Rolling Stone magazine. For more info, check out Bach’s official web site. Phil Anselmo’s Superjoint Ritual will tour the US again between October 7th and the 21st, although cities and venues have yet to be announced. Also, SJR will be releasing their first-ever DVD, Superjoint Ritual – Live in Dallas on September 24th through Sanctuary.

Hammerfall have set Crimson Thunder as the title of their forthcoming album, which will see a release date of October 28th in Europe.

Suicidal Tendencies are scheduled to perform at the Glen Helen Blockbuster Pavilion in San Bernardino, CA on October 5th as part of the P3 event that is being held there. More information will be announced shortly.

The Hellacopters will release their new single, "By The Grace Of God" on September 9th, which hails off their latest album, By The Grace Of God, which is scheduled for release on September 18th through Universal Music.

Guitarist Kirk Hammett (Metallica) was apparently ‘assaulted’ by his own surfboard last week, resulting in some stitches.

The Doors, which holds vocalist Ian Astbury (The Cult) now in it’s ranks, performed a secret show at the House Of Blues in West Hollywood, CA as a warm-up for their reunion show on September 6th at the California Motor Speedway as part of the Harley-Davidson 100th Anniversary Open Road Tour. The band played “Roadhouse Blues,” “Strange Days,” “Love Me Two Times” and “When The Music’s Over.” Apparently, The Doors plan on releasing a brand new album sometime in 2003, with Astbury on vocals.

The second issue of Gene Simmons Tongue magazine should be out on the stands next week sometime, and will include interviews with Playmate Carrie Stevens (who was friends – or something -- with the late Kiss drummer Eric Carr), current Kiss drummer Peter Criss, skater Tony Hawk and comedian Andy Dick. Issue three should contain interviews with Virgin mogul Richard Branson, comedienne Roseanne, adult star Jenna Jameson, MTV VJ Carson Daly, DJ Ellen K and more, possibly including female boxer Leila Ali.

The Rob Zombie horror flick, House of 1000 Corpses, has just lost a cast member. Actor Dennis Fimple, who’s appeared in many films, such as BJ and the Bear and Maverick, passed away recently at the age of 62. Fimple appears in Zombie’s film as “Grandpa.”

The Locobazooka festival will be back to its one-day, all-day music festival this year in Worcester, MA on September 22nd. The first two Queens of the Stone Age dates have been canceled – tonight, August 31st in Washington, DC and tomorrow, August 31st in Philadelphia, PA. Openers …And You Will Know Us By The Trail of the Dead will headline those shows. Also, the QOTSA appearance on CBS’ Late Night With David Letterman has been moved to September 4th.

Last night at MTV’s Video Music awards show, Guns N’ Roses closed the ceremonies with a medley of “Welcome to the Jungle,” “Madagascar” and “Paradise City.” After the show, Axl Rose told MTV News the following regarding the release over their way-overdue album Chinese Democracy: "You'll see [the album], but I don't know if 'soon' is the word. It will come out, and we'll do some more recording and start the American leg of the tour," he promised. David Lee Roth and his band will be appearing live on NBC's Last Call With Carson Daly on Friday, September 13th.

Dream Theater had to cancel their forthcoming appearance on CBS’ The Early Show, which was originally scheduled for September 14th, citing reasons that "the show was only able to provide us with a performing situation that would have been 'musically compromising' and one which would have given an improper representation of the band and its music.”

Guitarist Pete O'Malley has split from his duties in Orange Goblin in order to pursue his artwork and other projects. Apparently, Goblin plans on remaining a four-piece for now.

The Tommy Lee reality show proposal for VH1 will never see the light of day, as the plans for the new series have already been scrapped. No reason has been confirmed at this time.

Deep Purple’s Perihelion DVD is out now, and appears to be the last official release (as of now) that contains keyboardist Jon Lord . The DVD, which was recorded live at the Sunrise Theater in Florida on June 5th, 2001, contains the following set list:

The New York Post is reporting that Ozzy’s wife/manager Sharon Osbourne, who is currently fighting colon cancer, had been rushed to a local Los Angeles hospital on August 23rd for severe dehydration. Apparently Sharon had also lost 20 lbs. in two weeks, and was “white as a sheet,” according to US weekly, and it seems this isn’t the first time this has happened. More info as it’s available.

Drummer Joey Castillo has parted ways with Danzig, and will apparently be joining Queens of the Stone Age for their tour, which kicks off Friday, August 30th. As a result, Danzig have cancelled their appearance at the On The Waterfront festival in Rockford, IL on August 31st (Soil will fill their slot).

Armored Saint and Metal Blade Records will be releasing a DVD version of A Trip Thru Red Times and as part of the special features the band will be doing an interview along with a slide show. To help make this DVD's special features extra special, the band will be accepting and answering questions from their fans about any point of their career from the years 1982-1991. All questions should be submitted to [email protected] no later than 5:00pm PST/8pm EST on Wednesday, September 4th.

Bassist Rich Gonzales (Diesel Machine) is in critical-but-stable condition at a Los Angeles hospital after his Harley-Davidson motorcycle broad-sided a car last weekend. Diesel Machine consists of Gonzales, vocalist AJ Cavalier, guitarist Patrick Lachman (Halford) and drummer Shane Gaalaas (Glenn Hughes).

Guitarist Joe Perry (Aerosmith) will sit in with Paul Shaffer and the CBS studio band on The Late Show with David Letterman on Thursday, August 29th.

Dream Theater will be performing live on The Early Show on CBS on September 14th. Please check your local listing for further details on time.

Rumor has it Van Halen “Ex-Wife #3” Gary Cherone will join Sammy Hagar and bassist Michael Anthony onstage during the August 28th gig at the Tweeter Center in Boston.

As previously reported, Jerry Cantrell will conduct a headlining US tour beginning October 10th, after a few dates in the UK. Comes With The Fall has been selected to open for him on this tour, along with other acts TBA.

Will Haven, who will be hitting the road with Soulfly later this fall, have plans to release a DVD later in the year. More info to come as it’s available.

Kingdom Come are getting ready to release a new CD, Independent on October 14th through UlfTone Music, a new label.

Launch.com is reporting that there is a “strong possibility” that the remaining Led Zeppelin members – vocalist Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones -- may reunite in 2003, which would mark their first time touring together since drummer John Bonham passed away in 1980. Since then, the remaining members have played two gigs together.

Reveille will begin recording their next full-length effort this December with producer Howard Benson (Sepultura). Originally the band was only going to record a five-track EP, but obviously they have more material than anticipated.

Bassist Jason Newsted (ex-Metallica) has left Echobrain, seemingly on good terms. Bassist Adam Donkin ( De'briah) has filled the position.

It appears that a guitarist in Adema got socked in the jaw by one of the members of Down, or at least by someone on Down’s tour bus, just recently at the Ozzfest in St. Louis. Well, this is all according to an “eyewitness” reporting to AntiMusic.com. Check it out for the whole (unconfirmed) story.

It's been rumored that guitarist Gian Pyres has parted ways with Cradle Of Filth. More info to come upon confirmation.
