How do you think the new year will progress music-wise? Do you see a heavier trend setting in, or do you see a crumbling of the metal music scene?
bosox1 - 1/3/2003 12:56:10 PM sorry mcorleone73...much due respect to you bro!!
bosox1 - 1/3/2003 12:53:06 PM go get the new mudvayne, demonpunk.
mcorleone73 - 1/3/2003 12:50:43 PM bosox1, I said first man!!!.
sixgunsloaded - 1/3/2003 12:50:20 PM I know I am looking forward to a lot of great shows this year I hope that is a sign of what is to come from the metal scene.
bosox1 - 1/3/2003 12:48:48 PM well said demonpunk !
VicRattlehead502 - 1/3/2003 12:41:28 PM No. Every "metal" band is still trying to hang onto their "metal-flag" but they've changed their style around so much that they've inadvertently watered themselves down so that they will be easier for the masses to swallow.
demonpunk - 1/3/2003 12:36:43 PM I don't know what you mean by "full force." If you mean into the mainstream, then NO. Real Metal never really gets into the mainstream. Maybe once in a blue moon. But the only time it ever was is when it was some stupid fake metal like "hair-metal" or "nu/rap-metal" or some shit. But it does seem that more metal fans here in U.S. are just getting into black metal. So maybe that will get a bit more recognition.
mcorleone73 - 1/3/2003 12:34:02 PM ...another thing, I hope Pantera and Maiden come out with albums this year, they are long due and it will be great to see how they show these punk-asses nu metallers with their phoney " mosh pits " how is done; also AC/DC and Iced Earth...man, I can't hardly wait, Happy New Year everyone!!!.
mcorleone73 - 1/3/2003 12:28:22 PM I hate to come to face with it but Heavy Metal as a mainstream act is and has been defunct for a while thank God, so if the question is , Will 2003 bring great heavy metal albums? No doubt, anticipating releases from Anthrax, Armored Saint and Nuclear Assault among others, it looks like a prolific year in metal as we know it, however, if the question is Will Anthrax, Dio and Maiden be played on Mtv or covered in Rolling Stone? Then the answer is definitely no, since what we consider true metal was never meant to be mainstream in the first place and the new crop of bands that try to pass themselves as " metal" or " hard" has no clue how to deliver a METAL album or song, it is safe to say that, no metal will stay underground and to be honest, I rather keep it that way.
davesmetal - 1/3/2003 12:21:02 PM Crumbling of the metal music scene? I have said it over and over METAL WILL NEVER DIE!!!!!!!!!!! Just waiting for ESRO9 to put in his bullshit......
davesmetal - 1/3/2003 12:18:43 PM Hopefully a heavy old style new Metallica and new Maiden album.
FUD_rocks - 1/3/2003 11:53:53 AM I believe that music will experience a drastic change over the next year. With digital recording becoming so inexpensive and quality getting better, I think that smaller bands with no label support will start selling a lot more records. It ain't like the old days with a four track in a garage. Four kids and a mac can put together an awesome sounding CD. So many labels put out albums with only one or two good tracks, I think people will navigate towards the smaller unknown bands because they do what the want, not what the label tells em to. I got a friend that just got signed to a major label and they are tearing their shit up. Now it sounds like radio crap and he hates it. (They really got a shitty deal.) Any ways...who doesn't like turning on a friend to a kick ass band that he never heard of? Especially when you can go to their website and buy it for $10 not $22.95! Long live the INDEPENDANT ARTISTS!
azchick - 1/3/2003 11:53:10 AM I predict Nu - metal will be washed down the drain & original heavy metal will reappear! pop singers like Britney, Christina, and all boy bands will be slaughtered and served for lunch, as bands like Nuclear Assault, Iron Maiden,Judas Priest, & Anthrax feast on their carcasses.! so , that would be a "yes".
