MOTORHEAD Tour In Jeopardy?

Band Cuts Yet Another Show Short

A News Monkey Editorial:

Things aren't looking too good for MOTORHEAD fans right now as the band's current tour is in danger of an early demise following continued problems with frontman Lemmy Kilmister's health.

The U.S. tour, which started a couple of weeks ago in support of the band's just released new album Bad Magic, seemed to go off without a hitch as the band rolled along through each show to great reviews. However, the tour with SAXON has suddenly taken an unexpected turn as the trek has hit a series of speedbumps that threatens to derail the remaining dates.

The problems started last week when the band was forced to cut their set in Salt Lake City short after just 3 or 4 songs. The reported issue was the thin air in the city that made it difficult for Lemmy to breathe. Given that the band's next show was in Denver at an even higher altitude, MOTORHEAD opted to cancel that show altogether. The hope was that the tour could resume as planned in Texas on September 1, shows that were at much lower altitudes.

However, the band's first show in Austin, the first of 5 scheduled Texas dates, saw the band once again have to cut their set short after just 3 songs when a visibly fatigued and winded Lemmy told the crowd "I can't do it" before leaving the stage. This latest event certainly gives the impression that Lemmy's health is much more of an issue than is being reported and one has to wonder how long the band will continue on with this tour before pulling the plug altogether.

Despite the reports that the Austin crowd was mostly supportive, with only a few fans being 'mildly annoyed', a KNAC.COM contributor who was in attendence at the show chuckled at the 'mildly' comment and stated that some people were throwing drink cups and that he decided to make a hasty exit because, as he said, "you could tell it wasn't good".

We certainly hope that Lemmy gets well soon and that the rest of the tour is not impacted, but at some point you have to consider your health over all else.

Get Well Soon Lemmy!

UPDATED: KNAC.COM has just received word that tonight's show in San Antonio has been cancelled!.
