FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

BLACK METAL INVADES BILLBOARD AS DIMMU BORGIR BREAKS THE TOP 200!

Dimmu Borgir, the world's premier black metal band, made the biggest splash of their already illustrious career this week as their brand new album Death Cult Armageddon landed on the Billboard Top 200 at #179.

The band also brings a large blast of Nordic air to the Billboard Heatseeker's chart, grabbing the #7 position.

Their emergence in the American marketplace only helps to underscore the growing global importance of the band. They currently hold down the #2 position on the Norwegian chart, #9 in Finland, #12 in Germany, #14 in Austria, #35 in France, #42 Holland and #54 in Switzerland.

In other DIMMU happenings…

Terrorizing the land of the free and home of the brave, only the strongest shall survive the Dimmu Borgir tour of 2003 with bands Nevermore, Children of Bodom, and Hypocrisy. Will you be one of the chosen to endure the hellfire that the kings of Black Metal shall unleash on the hills and valleys of our sweet homes? In support of the brand new Death Cult Armageddon, the Norwegian keepers of hell are geared up to command their army of darkness into a march across the U S. Choosing to pass up this live package of raw metal wickedness, you may be salvaged, but the blood trail will leave you wondering what has been sacrificed. Unite with the march to Armageddon!

About this Billboard "problem", I just want to say one thing: Far Beyond Driven came in at #1. Anybody who says Phil Anselmo ever sold out needs to get their head out of their ass.

you know, i've been a metal fan for a very long time, and i've seen this scenario play out too many times as it is...when Metallicash made the black album, i thought "well that's that, then" obviously, they had become a hard rock band and it signaled the end of thrash, basically. so then we get death metal, thrashes gutteral cousin, if you will. death metal demanded a stricter adherence to anti-commercialism than thrash, but the scene soon became over saturated and cartoonish. so then we get black metal, the twist being that these bands practice what they preach, for once, and it seemed like no band adhering to black metal standards could sell out, i mean , what, photo op for mtv at 2:00, church arson at 4:00? c,mon. but then you get bands like cradle and dimmu, (albiet the latter being infinitely more 3 dimensional) and you have to wonder, "where does it go from here?" i'll tell you: suicide metal. yeah that's right, suicide metal. band makes one demo, plays one show, end of the night, the whole band kills themselves. ok, i'm kidding, (don't wanna give anybody the wrong idea) but my point is, metal can't be mainstream, or it wouldn't be metal. but just because some band cracks the top 200 once in a while, does it mean they suck? in metallicas' case, yes, in dimmus' case, i don't think so... i mean these guys aren't playing "of wolf and man" here, so lighten up, they'll be another kind of metal soon enough. if not suicide metal, then mabye sleep metal (everyone just turns up the feedback and passes out) or mabye food-poisoning metal (give the audience bad meats so they, too, can feel the pain) or mabye.........

goddamn spelling, STICK hahaha

bandhgreece88 - 10/11/2003 2:03:49 AM
I wouldn't call Immortal nazi's and they did 3 really great albums, well my favorites out of them all anyhow, Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism, Pure Holocaust, and Battles In The North. Great music and lyrics as well about Norse Folk in it. Yes, i agree, there is a lot of NSBM (National Socialist Black Metal) but it's a label, they still sick with folk and faith, Norse folk and faith that is. I'm glad there are these bands not doing polically corrent music. If you don't agree with the lyrics, then you don't agree.

bandhgreece88 - 10/11/2003 1:46:58 AM
Actually they are true black metal. As stated it is about folk and faith. The swastica is an ancient symbol used in many European tribes long before Hitler got a hold of it. People really need to learn that. It's an ancient sunwheel.

FantoftStave - 10/8/2003 2:57:14 PM
Bard Faust is free, next is Nodtveit getting out of prison in the spring. HAIL THE TRUE NORWIEGIAN HORDE! I feel pity for you being an "ordinary metalhead", how do you live with yourself?

smwatkins72 - 10/8/2003 12:34:23 AM
FantoftStave, MARDUK, GORGOROTH, & MAYHEM need to wash there faces of that stupid fucking makeup, and BARD FAUST is a goddamn criminal who should spend the rest of his life in jail for his hate crime! False metal prick! Black metal is for racist hatemongers.

smwatkins72 - 10/8/2003 12:29:49 AM
Dimmu Borgir Break Into Billboard Charts : Satanists everywhere masturbate in celebration, ordinary metalheads could give a fuck.

FantoftStave - 10/7/2003 11:43:47 PM
I am familiar with the bands that you listed earlier... they are all Nazi Metal bands and do not represent True Black Metal. They use the music as a focal point for extreme racism, therefore the music is sub-standard and the lyrics are rediculous. As for that website you recommended... could there be more swastikas?

bandhgreece88 - 10/6/2003 2:39:01 PM
it's the newest music fad, so they'll be around for awhile, but I do agree, they are mindless masses

FantoftStave - 10/6/2003 1:24:54 PM
No matter if DIMMU BORGIR is in the mainstream charts or not... they won't be there very long. The mindless masses don't care.

Lo_Balz - 10/6/2003 12:35:58 PM
aren't these guys 20 years too late?

bandhgreece88 - 10/5/2003 5:39:10 PM
I listen to the underground stuff, so mainstream stuff doesn't do anything for me, people can like them if they want I just don't. Crematoria said it as well as i did. Doesn't matter to me if people agree or disagree.
