The Marilyn Manson concert on October 12th, 2003 was fucking phenomenal! It was the fist day of his travel on the “Grotesk Burlesk” world tour. He played at The Warfield venue in San Francisco. It is a very small venue and a little surprising that one of the biggest rock bands in the fucking world would play this kind of place! But it was great!

The show started at 8pm with the opening act of S.T.U.N. I missed their show because the people who I was with were people who were procrastinators. We got in the theater about 8:50. S.T.U.N. had already gone by then.

I was about 10-15 feet from the stage at the beginning. When the lights were still on there was an electric version of Antichrist Superstar that was just instrumental. It took me a little bit to figure out what it was, but when others were singing the words to it, I caught on and sang as well. After that was over the lights went dim. The sound of “Thaeter” came on. The theater roared as the curtains opened. I screamed my lungs out when I saw the band. I saw John 5 first and the rest of the band. There was smoke at the middle of the stage and them Marilyn fucking Manson walked out! He began to sing “This Is The New Shit.” The crowd was crazy and once he started and I got pretty close. I was like 10 feet away from them!

When the song was over Manson talked to the audience. He talked to the audience a lot at this concert. He said that the props suck but we rock and he loves us all! I was so happy! And swear at one point he looked directly at me for a few seconds!!!!! I was so fucking happy I could have died!

Then he went into “Disposable Teens” and “Use Your Fist Not Your Mouth.” By that time he took off layers of his clothes and showed more skin. Then they went to “Great Big White World.” Manson said things like ‘if God were a woman he would fuck her in the ass,’ and ‘if God was music, rock is dead.’ Then came “Rock Is Dead,” of course. After that he went into his cover of “Tainted Love.” After that, the Grotesk Burlesk dancers came out and they did “mOBSCENE.” The Grotesk Burlesk dancers had plastic boobs, a plastic pussy and skin colored silk for their asses. It looked very realistic, a very cool thing. After That Marilyn Manson did “The Dope Show” with long arms that were attached to him. During that song red confetti came out and got on us. I saved some in my pocket. It was great!

Then Manson played the classic song “Tourniquet” from the older days. I wasn’t expecting them to play that, but it was really good and it made the old school fans happy! Next they played “(s)AINT.” I was very happy because it’s my favorite song on The Golden Age Of Grotesque! Next Manson said, “Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the golden age of grotesque. He played “The Golden Age Of Grotesque.” Tim Skold had a bass that was one of those big things. It was really cool. Then they went into “Doll-Dagga Buzz-Buzz Ziggety-Zag.” The Grotesk Burlesk dancers were really active during the last three songs. Then they played the classic song “Sweet Dream.” During that Marilyn Manson put a microphone in one of the girls’ ass and sang out of it. It was fucking great! At the end of the song they played the end of “The Reflecting God.” That is my favorite Marilyn Manson so I wish they played the whole thing, but I at least they did the outro.

After that all the band members left except for Madonna Wayne Gacy, who played “Obsequey (The Death Of Art)” on the keyboard. Then Manson came out with Mickey Mouse ears and his face all black with white around his eyes. He started to sing, “It’s a small world after all, it’s a small world after all, it’s a small world after all,” then the had the audience sing, “It’s a small, small world.” He then had us all chant “FIGHT!” They went into “The Fight Song.” The crown was getting really wild as the drum to the chanting part of “Antichrist Superstar.” Then he yelled, “How does it feel to be one of the beautiful people?” They played “The Beautiful People.” They crowd went fucking wild and sang the fuck out to ever word. Then they all left the stage.

The lights came on, but we were there standing chanting for an encore. “Manson, Manson,” we all cheered. Then he came back on and said, “Let all the children sing, we hate love, we love hate!” As we said that he went into “Irresponsible Hate Anthem.” It was my favorite Marilyn Manson song that they played that night, and a great way to end the show! I got so close on that song. I was about 7 feet away from Manson! Tim Skold took off his shirt to reveal his body in an antichrist symbols. After they finished, they left the stage! We all cheered loudly. After that, the lights went on and we all left to go home.

The concert was fucking amazing! I was so moved by the music, the band is so sophisticated, yet they fucking rocked the fuck out of that joint!!! It was theatrical and rock ‘n’ roll. I was so close, it made it really different than his 50 minutes performance at Ozzfest, and this set was 90 minutes! They did a great performance that kicked my, and all the others who went, ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
