Bret Michaels Live at Axis in

Bret Michaels at Axis in Boston Oct 21 Review by Debby Rao REVIEW BY: Debby Rao

Bret Michaels of Poison returned to New England to perform with his solo band at Axis in Boston October 21. Dressed in black and wearing a red cowboy hat, Michaels rocked the house down.

The lead singer of Poison is currently hitting the road on a solo tour in support of his new album, Songs of Life. Opening for Michaels on the four-month long tour are hot newcomers American Anthem from LA. They are also Bret's touring band.

Bret Michaels hit the stage a little after 11 P.M. The band opened with "Nothing But A Good Time." From that moment on, Bret held the audience in the palm of his hand. Michaels played all of the Poison hits including "Fallen Angel," “Unskinny Bop," “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn" and “Your Mama Don’t Dance." Michaels also played some new songs, including his new single "Bittersweet" and "Raine," a song that he wrote for his daughter. Both songs were catchy with powerful lyrics.

Michaels says Boston is one of his favorite places to play. The energy of the audience was amazing.

My favorite part of the evening came when Bret played acoustic guitar on several songs. He played a cool version of “Knocking On Heaven's Door." He informed us that was the first time he ever played that song live. He also played a powerful acoustic rendition of "Something to Believe In" and "Every Rose…”

Michaels ended the show with "Fallen Angel." During the encore "Talk Dirty To Me," Bret came out onstage wearing a Red Sox baseball hat. Everyone yelled, “Yankees Suck!” I thought that was too cool.

The show was raw, real and energetic. Michaels says," This is a chance for me to perform material from Songs of Life, as well as put a new twist into some Poison classics." From the response of the audience everyone had Nothing But A Good Time! /p>

Bret fucking rocks, and stfu to everyone about sports, who gives a fuck! You guys are just jealous because he looks better at 43 than you do at 23. Give it the fuck up & shut up! Bret is gorgeous, & puts his heart into all his lyrics. At least he writes his own lyrics.. I like a lot of new bands, but I still love a lot of bands from the 80's when I was a teenager. That music has a personality about it that was just fun. By the way I saw Bret Nov 30/2006 & I also saw Poison 8-5-06 at the Tweeter Center. I also saw GnR w/Sabastian Bach opening 11/8/06.. this year has had alot of unbelievable shows and I was front row for all. Basically a sold out crowd both places & both shows rocked.
