Fan's Beer Fizzles Maiden Boar

In response to Iron Maiden’s abbreviated set Saturday night at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, manager Rod Smallwood has offered this explaination:
“It’s Sunday morning and already I see many posts in the forum. On behalf of the band and myself all of you have our symapathy, especially the many of you who travelled great distances to be there. This gig sold out in a matter of minutes when it went on sale last December and we know, being the weekend show, a lot of you travelled in from many parts of the USA and Canada. For those who aren’t sure what happened, some idiot in the first couple of rows on the mezzanine above the mixing desk thought it was a good idea to chuck his beer in the air rather then down his throat. It landed on the desk blowing too many channels to be retrievable. This prevented us playing any encores. We are very sorry for the fans there and we know you know there was absolutely nothing we could do. Believe me the band [was] gutted. It was a great gig up ‘til then. Thanks from the band for the good-natured way you accepted this bad news – we always say Maiden fans are the best.
”Maybe we will see some of you again on Monday or Tuesday and to anyone else coming along, remember beer is to be drunk not thrown at a gig. And to the idiot who caused this, l do hope you learned a lesson.”

DOGSBOLLOCKS - 2/2/2004 3:21:21 AM Yeah webmeister, I suppose YOU know all about setting up equipment huh??? I know what you're trying to say....shit happens I guess! Then again, when Maiden, Saxon, Deep Purple, Status Quo and a bunch of other bands were playing in Malta (1998) in the middle of what was nothing more than an open-air field, I was on the sound crew and nothing like this ever happened! That's not to say the fans weren't tossing beer that time either!!! There must've been a couple of thousand beer cans (not all empty) around the stage at the end of each set. I guess it just shows WE knew a bit more about setting up equipment that you seem to think!!!!!

Wonder me, listening Iron Maiden since I am 13 never been to their concerts in Istanbul? Same deal, same kind of morons making pogo stuff at Iron Maiden concert...

22acacia - 1/31/2004 7:11:35 AM Fucking idiot. I remember seeing Maiden at the Garden or the Meadowlands in the 80s and some fucking idiot threw an M80 or something at the stage. Bruce fucking flipped and stormed off the stage. Luckily, the show went on.
