Primus Pump Up For 'Hallucino Genetics' Tour By Sefany Jones, Contributing Editor Monday, April 19, 2004 @ 1:48 PM
Hallucino Genetics
Following their highly successful reunion tour, original Primus members Les Claypool, Larry LaLonde and Herb Alexander will kick off a new outing, dubbed the Hallucino Genetics Tour, May 29 in Irvine, Calif.
At each show, they'll play one full set of career-spanning material, then come back out for a start-to-finish performance of Frizzle Fry, their first studio album. The band used a similar format for the recent Tour de Fromage, when they performed their classic Sailing The Seas Of Cheese in its entirety.
As with the Tour de Fromage, the band will make each performance available for purchase within 48 hours on www.primuslive.com.
Primus originally formed in the late '80s in the San Francisco Bay Area, quickly gaining a devoted fanbase with their infectious blend of wacky lyrics and funky post-prog rock.
Various side projects for the three ambitious members resulted in the band going silent by the end of the '90s.
After a four-year hiatus, bassist/singer Claypool and guitarist LaLonde regrouped last fall with original drummer Alexander, who had left in 1996. An EP/DVD, Animals Should Not Try To Act Like People, coincided with the band's fall tour, which they extended into spring of this year.
