Dee Snider To The Rescue! By Newsferatu, Writer Monday, April 25, 2005 @ 7:10 PM
The school administrators wanted their talent show to remain unplugged because they feared loud rock music would lead to safety problems with moshing.
Senior Greg Miller Jr. just wanted to rock his high school talent show one last time, but the new restrictions meant no show for him.
So, Miller decided to do something about it. He gathered 215 signatures on a petition and sent it to the school board. Those dudes said they would have to “look into it”.
Somehow, Dee Snider heard about this and said it sounded a lot like censorship to him.
In the 1980s Snider fought music censorship in front of the members of a congressional subcommittee and the public pressure group PMRC.
Dee got a hold of the school board and they backed down.
As a tribute, and a thank you, Miller and his band did a cover of Twisted Sister's song, "We're Not Going To Take It."
