Celtic Frost frontman Tom Gabriel Fischer posted the following information on his his official blog:
"Insomnia Persisting
The album will truly live up to the word that will be its title. But there is still some work to do. We are not quite there yet. I worship making albums, creating and playing music. I have committed my life to this, I have sacrificed so much for this, and, in return, it has given me all I am today. But making this album, my tenth album, has been the most difficult undertaking I have ever embarked upon. And these are not just heavy metal-typical overblown, empty or sensationalist words. I also believe I am not the only one to feel this way in the group. This album is a challenge, and yet the results are intoxicating. We were in the studio again this weekend and will be back for a couple of days by the end of the coming week to do some additional work on a couple of songs. We might even add a composition. Martin (Ain - bass) and me are mulling some eccentric ideas. For all intents and purposes, however, the album is at long last finished, and this week's Popkomm music industry convention in Berlin will see detailed talks between Antje, our manager, and some of the labels that have voiced strong interest. This album has been far from easy for me. And I have been far from easy on this album."
Celtic Frost's new studio album, tentatively titled Dark Matter Manifest, is their first in 13 years.
powergroove - 9/12/2005 8:06:04 PM yeah these guys are pretty god damn good and they are the full meal deal when it comes to metal.
Blobber - 9/12/2005 5:14:58 PM Venon were novice musicians. These dudes, while not virtuosos, were better. This is one band I won't talk shit about. Plus, they got a great name.
djwill - 9/12/2005 3:12:31 PM <The only song I ever hear of theirs is "Cherry Orchards>
Well RDWHT_BLU ....that is one of THEE WORST songs from the THEE WORSE Releases by CF. You must pick up "Morbid Tales" & "To Mega Therion" both are a complete 180 from Cold "Fake". TRUST ME.
heathenelz - 9/12/2005 2:03:07 PM Whatever happened to Celtic Frost? They STILL F'IN ROCK!
vinceneilschin - 9/12/2005 1:27:58 PM Ive seen them on Metal Mania on VH1 classic and the "Cherry Orchards" song is pretty good. Not sure what Marilyn Monroe has to do with the song itself, but pretty good nonetheless! Do it cause you love it!
3crdpkr - 9/12/2005 11:43:59 AM blast from the past!
deadguy - 9/12/2005 11:39:40 AM Agreed, Totems, but still it's been a long time since Tom G. and Co. put a decent album out so the question mark stands...
RDWHT_BLU - 9/12/2005 10:45:10 AM The only song I ever hear of theirs is "Cherry Orchards".
Totems - 9/12/2005 10:31:01 AM Hey Dead Guy, Mark St Reid is no hack on the skins im sure he may have influnced a lot of todays drummers.
Totems - 9/12/2005 10:26:22 AM Saw these guys back in 86 with Running wild great time and Cold Lake was a piss poor Lp IMO.
Al_Keyhall - 9/12/2005 10:00:39 AM I hope it's as good as "Cold Lake!"
deadguy - 9/12/2005 8:23:28 AM Celtic Frost used to be a great band, but will they live up to their fans' expectations? I have yet to recuperate from "Cold Lake", you know...also how will they match against the new crop of death metal bands? Celtic Frost were never the most technical or skilled musicians, they based their music on raw aggression and heavy, primal riffs (just like Venom, Bathory or any of their early-days peers). I just saw Morbid Angel last night and dude, they still impressed me after all these years (Pete Sandoval is a fuckin drumming machine, my friend had never witnessed something like that and all he said was: "this guy is not human") After seeing that I really wonder if the Frost would be up to the task...
Leather_Lung - 9/12/2005 6:53:33 AM These dudes were pioneers of the metal genre. Kick fuckin ASS!
