Opeth lead guy Mikael Åkerfeldt has commented on the recent arrest of their bus driver Leon R. Whitman who was charged on Tuesday (November 15th) with one felony count of using a child for a sexual performance, three counts of computer pornography and one count each of unlawful sexual activity with a minor and interfering with custody.
"Our busdriver on the last North American tour was arrested in Tampa/St. Petersburg, FL for "unlawful activity with a minor". Basically we're appalled by the fact that we'd employed this bastard and even more disgusted by his deeds and obviously we will be much more detailed in our background check for future employments. The driver introduced himself only as "Rod" and seemed like a nice guy, even though for us he was just another driver, and a bad one as well! He said he owned a trailer company and that he was a drummer, playing with TED NUGENT and several other bands in the '70's. We got suspicious that he couldn't get into Canada (we had another driver there) due to some previous drug "misdemeanors". Myself and Peter (Lindgren - guitars) met him and the girl in the elevator of the hotel where he introduced her as his niece. She seemed distant, asking us if we smoked pot. "Rod" told us he was driving her to Los Angeles. After the gig, he never returned to the bus and then we got the news that he'd been arrested. Luckily for us one of Nevermore's crew was able to drive us back to the hotel. The next day the FBI stopped our tour manager outside the bus with a warrant to search the bus for "Rod's" laptop and camera. We feel genuinely happy that he is caught and behind bars where we hope he will stay for a long time."

Gary Glitter has denied child molestation allegations in Vietnam, telling police he was just teaching English to young girls, state media reported on Tuesday.
"When they met me, they all told me that they were older than 20," the official Thanh Nien newspaper quoted the 61-year-old rocker, whose real name is Paul Francis Gadd, as saying.
Glitter, who said he came to the southern resort town of Vung Tau looking for tourism investment opportunities, said he was helping girls with their English, the paper said.
The Vietnamese-language Thanh Nien newspaper said police had identified five girls who had admitted to having had sex with Glitter. One of the girls was 12 years old, the paper said.
The age of consent in Vietnam is 16 and sex with minors is punishable by up to 12 years in jail.
Vung Tau police told Reuters they were keeping Glitter in custody for questioning over the allegations. They did not comment on his denial.
The Saigon Giai Phong newspaper said Glitter had requested a defense lawyer but had turned down a list of international lawyers provided by the British Consulate.
Police detained Glitter at Ho Chi Minh City airport on Saturday as he tried to board a plane to the Thai capital, Bangkok.
Glitter was sentenced to four months in jail in Britain in 1999 after being found guilty of storing more than 4,000 images of child pornography on the hard drive of his computer.
After his release, he left Britain for Cuba and then later turned up in Phnom Penh.
Child rights activists hounded him out of Cambodia twice and had his name put on an entry blacklist, although Glitter filed lawsuits last year fighting the deportation orders.
Vietnamese newspapers have reported Glitter had been in Vietnam for about a year.***** "Yeah, that's the ticket. I teach them to say 'Me so horny'."
