Draiman says no apology needed

Controversy continues to swirl over seemingly contradictory comments Disturbed lead singer David Draiman has made about the band playing Ozzfest 2006. Apparently, visitors have been peppering the message board at the bands' official website with non-stop criticism over Draimans' comments...some demanding an apology.
KNAC.COM's Jeff Kerby asked Draiman about the reports, in a Seattle radio interview, he said "It looks like at this point that we are confirmed for Ozzfest this summer..."
KNAC.COM: Word on the Internet is that Disturbed has been confirmed for Ozzfest—is this true?
DRAIMAN: We can neither confirm nor deny such information.
KNAC.COM: So any reports stating that you have…?
DRAIMAN: They’re garbage. I haven’t said anything to anybody. I’m not saying it isn’t happening, but I haven’t gotten any official confirmation myself. Some radio station in Seattle decided to speculate or something. Every radio station interview that I’ve done at the station though has been with the whole band, and they’ve heard me every single time, and I’ve never said anything like that. We’re in talks with them, but nothing has been solidified.
Draiman left this message on the bands message board, shortly before it was turned off completely:
"When an apology is warranted, I am the first to offer one. But not in this case. I do not appreciate the idiocy of people criticizing what I am supposed to have said. I am not going to defend myself any more than I already have, as there should be no need to. I have half a mind to do away with this board completely, because instead of being a place where we can joyfully interact with the fans it has become a haven for the holier than thou. People who actually have the audacity to think that they have a right to say how we should conduct ourselves or even the wording that we may choose. The door is open to you too, if you do not approve or want to leave.
I hope that you are proud of youself for once again distancing the band from its one means of limited interaction with its fans. You make me really feel welcome here. And what are we arguing about anyway? Whether or not I remember saying something a certain way? I already said I don't remember, nor does the rest of the band who have been present at these radio interviews, remember saying it, and already explained how sound bites are created and how editing of radio interviews are done, and even admitted to saying something like 'It looks like we are' [confirmed for Ozzfest]. So fucking what? Nothing is good enough for you, short of prostrating myself and apologizing for something that doesn't even have anything to do with you? Fuck off. Mission accomplished on alienating me from my own band's board. Time for a sabbatical. Fight amongst yourselves over nothing. I'll concentrate on the shows, and doing what I love most, not being sucked into this pathetic bullshit. Enjoy."

magor - 2/20/2006 7:50:08 PM linkinkornbizkit, I forgot to answer your questions about what qualifies one, etc. Well, this of course I've answered elsewhere indirectly with the "opinions are like..." phrase. In general though I can honestly tell you that since I've travelled around the world,
the only place where appearances are more important than substance is California. Everywhere else you can
look like a typical working class Joe, noone cares, in fact most people elsewhere dress for the type of work they're involved in. Yeah, when I was a kid and the hippies where everywhere, the world's teens and young adults had their own look the world over. This was true through the punk era, and the late eighties/early
nineties metal scene to a lesser extent, and then even during the grunge era to an even lesser extent, but now everyone's yuppified if they sit behind computers,
and the blue collar contingent tends to dress down in utility clothes like Dickies, etc., sort of the factory look, there isn't much of any fashion trend for metalloids or fans of any other music at the moment. Even the (c)rappers who basically ripped off the grunge era rockers for baggies and metalheads for tattoos are wearing those infamous baggies less and less as they've stumbled over themselves in various awkward situations. By the way the grungsters before the (c)rappers ripped off the bodybuilders of the mid eighties gym scene. It seems anything goes right now judging from concerts I've been to recently.
magor - 2/20/2006 7:32:17 PM linkinkorn..., being compared to Sully Erna ain't bad.
Limp Bizkit and Korn both have a very few songs that are listenable to a good ear, but judging from having heard most of their material from kids I've worked with neither is close to the musicality of many bands in other sub-genres of metal or most other genres in general. (Obviously they're better than most (c)rap
musicians or even most pop musicians - that's not saying much. Linkin Park, honestly I'm not as familiar with, but from what I have heard, they're worse than the other two.
TabCrawler_Com - 2/17/2006 11:28:03 AM he said "it looks like we are confirmed" shit changes... no big loss if they don't make the cut.
Mortiis1313 - 2/16/2006 9:19:17 AM Draiman sounds like Lars Ulrich. They both like to bitch like little girls. I will not dance with them!
zzTish - 2/15/2006 2:38:41 AM wow... this site sure got alot of response. it's all drama, blah!!!
scrapmetal - 2/14/2006 9:15:48 AM Thrasher:I totally agree that 80's metal bands blow away the numetal groups for the most part but in regards to the current crop Disturbed is one of the better ones. The singer may sound the same but at least he's got a distinctive style. The guitarist has definitely improved his abilities and live reviews have been positive.I wouldnt pay to see them but Id say they are in the top 20 at the moment nationally.
linkinkornbizkt - 2/14/2006 8:44:50 AM ahh magor.the truth behind my username is that locally amongst radio-haters" sounds like rage against korn bisquit"is a catch phrase used to describe formulated clear channel type "music".i especially hate linkin park so i dropped rage and voila a moron-lure.you swallowed the hook,a rusty, infected treble hook.youre presumptions about me are unjustified, unless you include my past posts on initial equality,i give everyone the same chance before ill affix an appropriate label,if needed.maybe i am a wigga, here we call em wiggers but whatever.what qualifies one in your opinion?based on appearance you wouldnt mistake me for anything other than a metal-head.often times ill post in a unusual tone as a joke, just like the user name.as much as i hate korn and linkin park i can admit that a few limp bisquit songs are good.the instrumental off their first disc entitled everything, and a couple off the 2nd disc, the heavier wes borland written songs.ever heard of wes' side project?big dumb face is heavy/death metal almost like fear factory meets coal chamber.on my best performances in my band ive been compared to dez fafara, jamey jasta, sully erna, what i lack in upper range i make up for volume and conviction.i couldnt care less about a big record deal, our motivation is passion, conviction, and execution.im already rich,in family, health, and experience.the things money cant buy.
magor - 2/13/2006 7:38:24 PM Canuckmetalhead, I've mentioned before linkinkornbizkit sounds like a gang-bang wannabe or a wigga. Why choose three (c)rap-metal bands as your handle? Especially when maybe one of those bands is actually any good. I'll probably get a lot of shit, from linkin...and likeminded fans, but it doesn't matter because opinions are like ... as you know. I did use some lowlife vocab here, to emphasize certain points for those who only understand the "streets". But I agree with you that we could all clean up our act if we put our minds to it. As far as your "friend" from S.C. is concerned, I wouldn't pay much attention to him, being that he cites Bon Jovi as a band you should like. If he's serious, we all know what kind of pussy metal he's into, if not, then the rest of his curse word filled rant was probably tongue-in-cheek as well.
linkinkornbizkt - 2/13/2006 3:07:35 PM bravo?cheers?im wearing a motorcycle chain around my wrist... fist fuck you!
linkinkornbizkt - 2/13/2006 3:02:28 PM yea taking profanity out of the internet, what a noble concept.i post hear because i am of adult age and feel the need to corrupt anyone of a minor age that may be reading.so youths did ya hear the one about the cumguzzling canadian that went to south carolina for a fuckin vacation, turns out cbc was banned in many southern states for excessive adult content and violence(hockey)fuckin southern assholes just love to be conservative cunts.hey kids have you seen the movie called "the aristocrats"i highly recommend it if you care to experience an adult language extravaganza.
thrasher69 - 2/13/2006 2:17:05 PM all everybody needs to know is that this band fucking sucks if you dont like the profanity on this site get the fuck out you dumb shit and dont call yourself a metal head
bmacfrensc - 2/13/2006 1:25:46 PM i,m not talking to you,eunuch
IBukkakedYurMom - 2/13/2006 1:06:10 PM bmacfroomsc - you talking to me, bitch-boy?
bmacfrensc - 2/13/2006 11:56:55 AM can-fuck metalhead, stop youre fuckin idiotic condescending fuckin lectures.its my business lecturing here im knac.coms resident educator from south fuckin carolina.i've gotta opinion on every fuckin matter here and i fuckin make everyone see it.so,can-fuck,get over your power trip and quit fuckin censoring our fuckin language and concentrate on something fuckin better than that.here in south carolina we fuckin think of seceding from the fuckin union if our liberties anre questioned.in my nursin home we put jerks like you in their fuckin place which is six feet under.so unless you dig bon jovi, hold a higher degree,or work in a nursin home you and i are not fuckin gonna see eye to eye,can-fuck metalhead.watch it
Canuckmetalhead - 2/13/2006 9:43:57 AM There, see?!? You expressed yourself most competently without resorting to profanity. Bravo! I say sincerely: Bravo! That was well-said. If it means anything at to you, and I can't imagine it will, I'm proud of you. I hope to see you on another string sometime. Take care, my friend. Peace, Canuck
