From the LA Daily News:

The Los Angeles Community College District received a Savings By Design award at the Southern California Gas Company's first Energy Efficiency Expo earlier this month.

The Gas Co. program offers services and incentives to help raise energy performance.

The district earned the award for implementing sustainable energy principles at its nine colleges.

The district has received more than $870,000 from The Gas Co.'s program for more than 14 building projects. The district expects it will save more than that each year through reduced usage of natural gas and electricity.

"We recognize there are plenty of other benefits from energy efficiency, such as protecting the environment and saving our natural resources," district trustee Nancy Pearlman said.

Delores Rhoads has added $20,000 to the scholarship endowment she created more than 10 years ago at California State University, Northridge, as a tribute to her late son, Randy Rhoads, CSUN said.

The endowment, now worth $45,000, is designed to offer financial aid to guitar students.

Delores Rhoads founded and operates Musonia, a North Hollywood music school where her son began taking lessons at age 6. By age 14, Randy was performing with local bands, and at age 20, Randy and friends formed the heavy-metal band QUIET RIOT while he taught at his mother's school during the day.

In 1979, Randy became OZZY OSBOURNE's lead guitarist on his first two solo albums. But in 1982, Randy died in a plane crash while on tour with Osbourne.

Since then, Delores has contributed a total of $75,000 to CSUN in his honor, creating the scholarship fund in 1993 and making donations to the school's International Guitar Research Archive.

Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Pasadena, announced Women of the Year awards for district residents including Beth Marcus, a family physician in La Caada Flintridge, and Seta Simonian, a middle school teacher in Glendale.

The congressman honored all of the women at a luncheon last week. Marcus has practiced medicine at Verdugo Hills Hospital and Glendale Adventist Medical Center for more than 10 years. She's former secretary/treasurer of the Los Angeles chapter of the California Academy of Family Medicine and a member of the American Medical Women's Association and the Society of Adolescent Medicine.

Simonian, a math teacher, co-founded and chaired the Hamazkayin Educational and Cultural Society of Pasadena and has been chairwoman of the Hamazkayin Music Committee since 1994. She also served as an anchor for Horizon Armenian TV in Glendale for three years, and is a member of several other Armenian-American organizations.

I will say OZZY and Co . Were no match to the SABB'S in 80 ! RANDY was a good find . But he did not hold a candle to IOMMI..Randy deserves a lot of credit for those two albums..right along with Bob and Lee .Randy might of went on to do great things . But Eddie already beat him out. ( just my opinion )..

No, no, no...session men played on Blizzard and Diary. Jose Feliciano played guitar on Blizzard. The axe duties fell upon some dude named Ikezu Yamura (he played Freddy the Frog on the old kids show New Zoo review) for Diary.

Bob Daisley and Max Norman wrote 99% of the lyrics on the Blizzard Records including Crazy Train which the Oz claimed credit for. We all know Geezer wrote most of Sabbaths lyrics.

Dee is the mom of steel! Your son was my favorite guitar hero! Randy will be forever young! Good luck and congrats on your donation. I would have had more respect for the Osbournes if they would have takin the time to do something nice for Randy and his family on MTV amongst their own show circus to keep the spirit of Randy alive instead of more Jerry Springer hijinks. Ozzy owes his entire rebirth of success to Randy and his riffs.

Daisley and Kerslake lost their case in court to gain greater royalties from the first albums (which they're pursuing further). So Sharon deemed it "wise" to remove their performances (she can't change the writing credits) and replace them with Trujillo and Bordin playing entirely the same parts. Then she has any original copies to be pulled from store shelves and replaced with the new recordings. It had nothing to do with any artisitic pursuit, it was purely legal and financial wrangling..and any new fans don't get the original performances. Daisley's still on the Bark at the Moon recordings but I'm not sure how much he actually played on.

Sharon is a dumb cunt

judasbishop - 3/31/2006 3:35:58 AM

analgravy2 - 3/31/2006 12:17:11 AM
Thanks for the idea. I'm gonna do some lines right now. I better hit the ATM so I can get an extra crisp $20 straw.

judasbishop - 3/30/2006 4:14:42 PM
ozzy at that time was coming off of a huge multi year coke run which he was bailed out from by sharon...he probably had the same sense(short lived)that sarzo had at the time

judasbishop - 3/30/2006 4:12:36 PM
yeah avenger-- and that look on his face was all about what a rip the gig was

gravity777 - 3/30/2006 12:49:22 PM
True!!!R.R i Is awesome, his music will be timeless!!!

Avengerkillerof - 3/30/2006 9:37:35 AM
The funny part is Sarzo neither played on the original Blizzard or Diary albums, nor the re-recorded versions.

duckfucker - 3/30/2006 5:34:28 AM
It's a shame. Ozzy really is that greedy. A cool million would do wonders for anyone seeking a scholarship.

analgravy2 - 3/30/2006 2:49:04 AM
That must have been one helluva drug run.
