Over the past several years Japan has been making a rather big contribution to the metal scene. Although it can be said that LOUDNESS was one of the first bands to really give Western metalheads a taste of what Japanese metal was like, at least in the 80's. There have been several underground metal bands who have managed to achieve a varying degree of success but, like it or not, BABYMETAL really ushered in the new generation of metal. Behind them were acts such as BAND MAID and one of the most recent bands to land in the United States is NEMOPHILA.
Formed in 2019, NEMOPHILA has managed to make a name for themselves with their original music as well as several cover songs but like likes of LINKIN PARK, KISS, SKID ROW, MOTLEY CRUE, and even BABYMETAL. Last year the band performed in the United States for their first time and with new material as well as a Blu-ray making their way into NEMOPHILA's catalog, hopefully it won't be long before they can return to our shores. Via a translator, vocalist Mayu took some time to sit down with us to discuss the band, their music, some of her favorite artists, and what fans can look forward to in the near future.
