The world of METAL we live in would not be what it is without the great record labels who provide a home to many of the great bands we love. Through compilations, and in the early days through tape-trading (a lost art), along with word of mouth we were able to gain word of another great band or 2 or 3 coming out of the scene. Someone who was there and eventually because a very important cog in the Metal Machine was Brian Slagel, who as a fan brought his love for Metal to the masses and eventually founded METAL BLADE RECORDS, one of the most recognized and well respected labels to be home to many great Metal bands from CANNIBAL CORPSE, AMON AMARTH, FATES WARNING, ARMORED SAINT, MERCUYFUL FATE, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER - and many, many more.
I'm fortunate to bring you an interview with Brian Slagel, a PART 1 (of 2 soon to come) where we discuss his new book Swing Of The Blade that goes more in depth than his previous book For The Sake Of Heaviness.
