Silent Civilian "Rebirth of the Temple" By Charlie Steffens, aka Gnarly Charlie, Writer/Photographer Wednesday, May 3, 2006 @ 3:26 PM
Rebirth of the Temple is the debut album from Silent Civilian, a band fronted by former Spineshank vocalist, Jonny Santos. The record employs the best elements of thrash, speed, punk, and Swedish metal with stylish, blues-based guitar work.
Santos is an amazing guitar player, and showcases his axemanship in Silent Civilian, in addition to his role as fire-breathing frontman. The four-piece band exudes musical talent and is a revival of what is pure and fun to listen to in our beloved hard rock genre.
“The Song Remains Un-Named”, an extremely tight, Shadows Fall-sounding song, is a dueling guitar masterpiece. “Falling Down” is a brutal, thrashy and punk-styled piece that defines Silent Civilian, loaded with the vital ingredients from the music that Santos and his bandmates cut their teeth on. “Live Again”, the last song on the album and rich with infectious guitar leads, is a testimony of the band’s mettle.
It’s goddamn electric.
