You grew up with his work. You parents grew up with his work. He made us all laugh. And now he’s passed on at his Orange County residence, at 89, of congestive heart failure.
Chuck Jones’ animation work at Warner Bros. is well known through his Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons.
During his 60-year career, Jones has created over 300 animated films, and has won three Academy Awards. He’s helped bring to life beloved characters such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd and Porky Pig. His career also includes his personal creations of Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote, Marvin Martian, Pepe Le Pew, and Gossamer. Not to mention he directed one of the most memorable holiday television specials ever produced -- Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
A memorial for the animator is planned soon in Newport Beach, while private services will be held for family members only.
