As previously reported, Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward will not be participating in Heaven And Hell - the new project featuring Ronnie James Dio (vocals - DIO, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass) and the recent addition of Vinny Appice (drums - ex-Dio, Black Sabbath).

Says Ward in a statement: "I realize there has been some speculation as to whether or not I am participating in the Heaven And Hell project. I want to confirm that I will not be involved in either the recordings for the upcoming CD or the subsequent tour. I want to wish the guys Tony, Geezer, Ronnie, and Vinny - much success for the coming year."

No further statements are available at this time. Heaven And Hell will be commencing their World Tour in Canada in March. There will be one exclusive US date in New York City, but the US dates won't begin until August.

Heaven And Hell are currently ensconced in a UK studio working on two new tracks for the forthcoming Rhino Records compilation, Black Sabbath: The Dio Years. The new material - the first from the Dio/Iommi/Butler/Appice team since 1992's Dehumanizer - is being produced by Iommi and is expected in early 2007.

scrap: 'Jimi's career once he dumped them & played with band of Gypsys? It shit the bed, thats what happenned & he od'd'....with all due respect,I think this to be completely false. To connect dumping 'the Expereince' and his o.d.s is completely off the mark. I think what destroyed Jimmy was the fact was was a true artist, not an entertainer. The guy didn't what to have to light his guitar on fire every night for the audience. He wanted the show to be about the music only. When he felt forced into continuing the burning and smashing guitar antics, the herion entered the picture. Ironically, the best shows he played, musically, came towards the end of his life; when playing jazz influenced performances in front of, sometimes, less than 75 pepole a night. What a treat it must of been to see Jimi in such small quarters.

Tapping has been an open debate for years. Alot of what people think is tapping is in fact just hammer-ons and pull-offs. Regardless of what people say, Eddie perfected it beyond anything seen before, he made it what is and was to come. Ironically, it was the individuals that came after him, in the late 80s/early 90s, that made it a joke. By which point Eddie was embarassed to do it, and wanted to drop erurption altogether, from the tours, but his bro helped to talk him out of it. For Eddie, its not a trick, it's part of his playing.

Eddie had the tone and production, which brought out his technique,he wasnt the first guy though to tap/pullloff though

ZBoy - 12/6/2006 11:44:34 PM
whatever happened to fast eddie?.....are he and lemmy ever gonna sleep together again?

ZBoy - 12/6/2006 11:43:43 PM
i think the first time i heard tapping was the solo on "Sweet FA"..by Sweet...on the album "Desolation Blvd"..a true proto-metal classic....Bill Ward and Ian Paice were both big influences on my Bass playing....sheez!

Blobber - 12/6/2006 7:52:59 PM
Fucking morons! Fast Eddie Clarke...YEA the same guy that used to be in Fastway and Motorhead invented fingertapping back in the 1950s (the motherfucker's 69 years old) when he did a stint as Ricky Nelson's lead guitarist.

scrapmetal - 12/6/2006 6:05:33 PM
In regards for the tapping debate, sure Eddie ,ANgus Young,Gary Moore & others have utilized tapping before VHI came out but everyone knows thats Eddie's signature. To bring up Jimi again, others used the tremelo but Hendrix made it part of his live arsenal.

scrapmetal - 12/6/2006 6:02:43 PM
Really, thorned, then wtf happenned to Jimi's career once he dumped them & played with band of Gypsys? It shit the bed, thats what happenned & he od'd.Just like you will eventually.Who the fuck are you to get in my face, anyhow?

thorned - 12/6/2006 2:00:14 AM
scrapemetal, in response to, Would Hendrix have been so huge if he didnt have the Expereince as his original rythym section? oh, no, hendrix would never of had a gig had it not been for those two musicians behind him. magor is right, you are an idiot.

scrap: 'I personally agree that Ward isnt fucking Neil Peart but for the type of music that Sabbath played in the 70's he did fine.'.....finally, that is all i was saying to begin with. Let us not forget, ozzy, a member more crucial than bill, was even replaced. But although ozzy could be replaced; bill couldn't...what a laugh provided by some posters. As for blackmass...don't be mean, we all 'played' the (female) bums time to time. hehe

scrapmetal - 12/5/2006 7:05:53 PM
Blackmass-I just read your comment & to clarify yes I can play guitar & worked as a tech for a bit before getting into other jobs in the metal biz for over a decade (paying gigs, btw).First off,I didnt know we all had to be GIT or Berklee grads to post here/I thought it was for metal fans and former KNAC listeners.Second, the chemistry Im talking about means certain individuals gell with others to achieve success.IE:Would Hendrix have been so huge if he didnt have the Expereince as his original rythym section?I personally agree that Ward isnt fucking Neil Peart but for the type of music that Sabbath played in the 70's he did fine.As for the present, yes he's old & decrepit after years of self abuse and touring.ANd did you ever stop to think that Dio has worked with Vinny Appice for for about 25 years and might prefer him over Ward?Jesus, lighten up!I give you a soliloquy & you respond with a 2 sentence juvenile response.
