As previously reported, Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward will not be participating in Heaven And Hell - the new project featuring Ronnie James Dio (vocals - DIO, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass) and the recent addition of Vinny Appice (drums - ex-Dio, Black Sabbath).

Says Ward in a statement: "I realize there has been some speculation as to whether or not I am participating in the Heaven And Hell project. I want to confirm that I will not be involved in either the recordings for the upcoming CD or the subsequent tour. I want to wish the guys Tony, Geezer, Ronnie, and Vinny - much success for the coming year."

No further statements are available at this time. Heaven And Hell will be commencing their World Tour in Canada in March. There will be one exclusive US date in New York City, but the US dates won't begin until August.

Heaven And Hell are currently ensconced in a UK studio working on two new tracks for the forthcoming Rhino Records compilation, Black Sabbath: The Dio Years. The new material - the first from the Dio/Iommi/Butler/Appice team since 1992's Dehumanizer - is being produced by Iommi and is expected in early 2007.

ZBoy - 11/27/2006 10:38:02 PM
i dunno...i have an old video of sabbath on Don Kirshners rock concert...Ol Bill was hammering away pretty good on the skins...i was impressed....by the way....i like sabbath way better with Dio,he's just a better singer....ozzy is a mushroom now

cronos666 - 11/27/2006 9:19:03 PM
Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules were the two definitive post-Ozzy albums by the Sabs. Born Again with Ian Gillian on vox had its moments but did not touch the genius range of RJ Dio. All Hail Heaven and Hell.

phrygiandoom - 11/27/2006 8:26:48 PM
And yes: Tony Martin had greater range as a singer than any other Sabbath singer.

phrygiandoom - 11/27/2006 8:17:18 PM
GARY2: bro I agree; headless cross and Idol are great albums, the best vocalist of any sabbath era IMO.

GARY2 - 11/27/2006 7:06:47 PM
Where is Tony Martin these days. That dude can sing.

tarzan5150 - 11/27/2006 4:00:22 PM
Figures, Sanitarium lives in an area where home values don't surpass $45K. Maybe he can use his mullet to hang himself.

judasbishop - 11/27/2006 3:54:05 PM
just read that the release will be single disk...fucking record company! two new tracks+ material from the Dio albums? should be 2 disks+ bonus tracks

phrygiandoom - 11/27/2006 3:30:15 PM
dancypants: yeah, I can't stand people that use condescending bullshit to try and make a point.

phrygiandoom - 11/27/2006 3:28:03 PM
Oclaf: plenty of famous bands had drummers that were that weren't that great; btw, what band are you in that's famous? MUYA!
