Velvet Revolver guitarist Dave Kushner posted a message on his site, stating that the band finished recording Libertad:
"Hey everyone, well.... Its finally here. The last day in the studio was yesterday ....sniff.... sniff.... and now all that's left to do is finish mixing. I can't even express to u people how f%@$n awesome it sounds!!!!! All the tracking is done. Just some last minute vox and finish mixing. Its gonna be a good one!"
Another message at the site reads: "According to drummer Matt Sorum, VR have recorded cover versions of Talking Heads 'Psycho Killer' and Electric Light Orchestra's'Can't Get It Out Of My Head' during the Libertad sessions. They don't know what they'll do with them yet, but Matt hopes one of them make the album because "they're both bitchin'."
