Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck to Reunite for Yardbirds Tour

According to an industry insider, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck are going to tour as The Yardbirds this fall alongside founding bassist Chris Dreja and drummer Jim McCarty. The tour is said to kick off this October. It’s unclear who will be the reformed Yardbirds’ lead singer (original vocalist Keith Relf died of electrocution in 1976). Eric Clapton, the Yardbirds’ founding guitarist, has no plans to participate, according to the source.
Page and Beck’s tenure in the Yardbirds overlapped by only a few months in 1966, but they have remained close friends since. The British blues legends disbanded in July of 1968, although Dreja and McCarty have been touring steadily under the Yardbirds name since the 1990s, and are currently on the road through August. The band reunited for one night in 1992 when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

I remember alot of Page projects, the Firm was not as good as they could have been, but live Mr. Page played White Summer and blew every guitarist I ever hear away. I would dig a Page concert any nite. This hopefully will not be two old farts wanting to play bluz music for an hour in bflat. I dig those old black guitarist who did not get recorded untill they were like seventy nine years old because of American assholeness. Imagine listening to those old bluez masters , singin and playing when they were twenty four. Oh yea they had to teach it to a white person and then the white person would put on black makeup and play the song on stage. Did KISS get the makeup idea from BlackFace? ha ha.
what i mean is Jimmy is priceless. Jeff shreds. but I dont want to hear another blues album . English dudes p;layin American music from the thirties. Again. Put some KISS ALIVE into the blues and you got it , for those two anyway./ Me I bang my head, dead.

toolbox_1 - 7/22/2007 9:36:21 PM back in the day these guys were close in ability, beck is years ahead of page now due to his lack of long term heroin use and jimmy`s history w/ the horse, beck is as good now as he ever was, saw him last year and was amazed. saw page/plant a few years(4=5) ago, he was pretty basic , rudementary in his playing now, and had a couple of others playing some of his parts.
