Great White Manager Who Ignited Pyro In Rhode Island, Is Released From Jail By Newsferatu, Writer Wednesday, March 19, 2008 @ 7:56 PM
The attorney for the man whose pyrotechnics display sparked a deadly Rhode Island nightclub fire that killed 100 people says his client won't be making any public statements.
Band manager Daniel Biechele, was released from prison today, after serving less than half of his four-year sentence. His lawyer says Biechele won't talk about the case "out of respect'' for those most affected by it. Biechele pleaded guilty to 100 counts of voluntary manslaughter.
The 2003 deadly inferno was at The Station nightclub in West Warwick. The pyrotechnics went off as the rock band Great White began to play and ignited flammable foam lining the walls and ceiling of the club. The flames created toxic black smoke and created temperatures so high that most of those killed died within minutes.
Authorities say Biechele will be assigned a parole officer and plans to live in Florida.
