The world wide web has been abound with speculation on a possible Big Four tour for several months. Now, the UK/European Sonisphere can exclusively reveal that METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX will play together for the first time in history, in a move that will have metalheads across the globe frenzied with excitement.

Says Metallica's Lars Ulrich of this historic announcement: "Who would have thought that more than 25 years after its inception, thrash metal's big 4 would not only still be around and more popular than ever, but will now play together for the first time...what a mindfuck! Bring it on!"

"It's about fucking time this happened," says Slayer's Kerry King, "and about time the fans finally get what they want. This is fucking awesome."

Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian agrees, commenting on the enormity of the announcement.

"People have been talking about these four bands playing together since 1984. That's twenty-six years of expectation!! And the thing is, I believe not only will we live up to the expectations, we will shatter them! No other four bands as influential as the four of us have ever done this. Imagine if THE BEATLES, STONES, THE WHO and ZEPPELIN had done shows? Or SABBATH, PRIEST, MAIDEN, MOTÖRHEAD? Well, I may be getting into some rarified air here but as a fan, that's how big I feel this is."

These four legendary acts broke out of the underground thrash movement to dominate the metal world in the 1980s, selling millions of records and packing arenas across the globe. The metal giants have never before all shared the same stage, despite huge demand. But on June 16, 2010, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax will take to the Sonisphere stage at Bemowo Airport, Poland, to make the dreams of headbangers the world over become a reality. A second Big Four appearance is planned for SONISPHERE CZECH REPUBLIC three days later, with more Sonisphere shows featuring the awesome combo to be announced in the coming days and weeks.

"This is a 'once-in-a-lifetime' opportunity for heavy metal fans to see the four greatest heavy metal bands in American history back together on one stage," concludes Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine. "If there are any heads left at the end of this festival that haven't banged, they don't belong there."

Tickets are available from www.sonispherefestivals.com

BTW SLAYER, MEGADETH and TESTAMENT are fuckin' OK, of course! METALLICA and ANTHRAX must be replaced by VENOM and the Dan Beehler's band called BEEHLER! METALLICA SUCKS!!!

adrian_kasparek - 12/15/2009 1:09:23 AM
METALLICA? ANTHRAX? Oh, man, give me a break! WTF? Both bands don't have anything in metal camp either. I'm from 80's era, I remember how fuck was that time (1982 to 1986 and up), bands like Venom, Exciter, Dark Angel, Slayer, Angel Dust, Sodom, Destruction, Nuclear Assault and other gods! Sincerely, METALLICA and ANTHRAX are out from REAL METAL SCENE since 1989. I remember in 1986, when we felt the new blood on metal scene, you know, MORBID ANGEL from the legend Mike Browning was borning and Death, from great friend Chuck (RIP)... METALLICA is trying to erase all craps they were doing for all those last years...

IMO, if Metallica sticks with material from the 1st 3 releases, they can hang with Slayer and Megadeth's new shit. Death Magnetic is a good start in the retro sounding direction but Megadeth and Slayer's new releases are (again, IMO) far superior. Now for Anthrax, for it to be 'the Big Four', Belladonna needs to be fronting the band and Dan Spitz needs to be on lead for it to work but Anthrax are past 'the reunion route' and most likely they will invite Bush (no Joey, has to be Bush for it to work). And I agree with other rants here. Testament, Exodus with Steve Souza would be nice (the current singer, Rob Dukes is excellent though), and add Kreator and Overkill to the bill. But with this dream line-up with bands that have stuck with the direction they have started with and the bands that have come full circle and are putting out ass kicking thrash music again, Metallica better stick with the material from the 1st 3 releases and maybe a song or 2 from Death Magnetic. Sorry, kind of left reality there, would me nice though \m/ \m/

I've got tickets to Slayer, Megadeth, and Testament here in Seattle next month... I think I might prefer that! After all, it's Testament!

onesickanimal - 12/14/2009 10:33:15 PM
Three of the four bands are from LA, and they play in Eastern Europe?

JOSHSKORN - 12/14/2009 10:05:38 PM
Wow no fucking way. I don't believe it. I hope Metallica is the headliner. In fact, I hope it's in the order of Anthrax, Slayer, Megadeth then Metallica. Just for the hell of it though, they need to add a couple more bands to the bill. Testament, I would say GnR if they were still the old GnR, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Poison, WASP, Motley Crue...anyone else from that era that is still alive and kickin'.

Metallldaaavee - 12/14/2009 9:31:47 PM
On BLABBERMOUTH this was touted as "THE BIG 4" LMFAO! Anthrax in there is so funny. WTF? TESTEMENT, EXODUS, had more to do with the thrash movenment and is more relavant as West Coast than ANTHRAX. Are they going to bring Flava Flav wt his clck around his neck? OH YEAH! THATS METAL! Did EXODUS or TESTEMENT ever sell out like that? ANTHRAX has big shoes to fill to hold up to this. The weak link in the chain.

Big questions are how long the sets will be, and who's "headlining" in the final slot?

killthepuppets - 12/14/2009 8:13:24 PM
its all about all four of them having the same 4 months off.... not likely... besides... bush is still making armored saint top priority... so thats a fifth band to throw into the mix ..time schedule wise....not sure theres enough money to be made for that headache..

krimescene - 12/14/2009 7:52:44 PM
plus.....the czech republic gets heaven and hell also ,,

StonedCold - 12/14/2009 7:49:43 PM
These guys almost have to do some sort of tour in the states, even if its just five or six shows. They have to, they're all American bands so it'll be fitting if they did do at least a few shows or festivals together here in the U.S.

The_Space_Lord - 12/14/2009 7:26:40 PM
This HAS to be made into a summer tour across North America. I'm already missing the Slayer/Megadeth/Testament tour this January which is hitting every place in Canada except Vancouver - where I'll be based at for the next 2 months for the Olympics.

Lynchs_nutsac - 12/14/2009 6:36:18 PM
Holy Fuckballs Batman. I'm in if they come to the states...
