If you haven't heard of this new band Lennon -- fronted by 20-year-old singer/keyboardist/guitarist/songwriter Lennon Murphy, who was named after the Beatle by her mom -- signed to Arista Records, and released their debut CD titled 5:30 Saturday Morning on September 11, 2001, the day that are world changed forever…
She has toured with The Cult, Buckcherry, Alice Cooper, Tesla, Living Colour, and Drowning Pool, among other bands. They played an eleven song set, all from the 5:30 Saturday Morning CD. The bass player, Brian, who had been playing bass live, left the band under good terms. His replacement quit before the Nashville show prior to the rehearsals, and instead of getting a new bassist right away, they played with the programmed bass from the CD, and they were a live three piece band!
Lennon, joined by drummer Donni, and guitarist Jeff (tech), rocked out doing great rocking versions of their originals, including set opener "Property of Goatfucker," "My Beautiful," "Trying To Make Me," "Asking You" (my personal favorite), "Couldn’t Breathe," the single/video "Brake Of Your Car," and "Morning," where Lennon rants about, asking the crowd, “Have you ever had an argument with a lover?” and then a few other songs. She ended the set with title track, "5:30 Saturday Morning," which is just Lennon singing and playing her
keyboard, with the catchy lyric "Fell in love at first glance."
Lennon is just more than a hot looking Metal Chick… she has great stage presence, talks to the crowd, and even after the show takes time to talk and sign stuff and chill with the crowd. She is just starting out on a national level, but she has the chance to go a long way, if she wants… She is winding up her tour, and going back in the studio to start work on her 2nd CD, and a big tour may be planned for later this year or after the next CD comes out. Lennon is rewriting History into Herstory...

granny_dryden - 4/30/2002 4:53:40 AM I saw Lennon open for Alice Cooper in Florida last year. She has a very cool stage presence and is a real nice person two (talked to her after the show). They're a better live band than in the studio though, I thought the studio record sounded a bit too 90's, too contemporary. Rock is best when it's raw.
chsmith - 4/29/2002 3:55:33 PM So . . . when are Lennon's cans . . . I'm mean, when is Lennon going to appear on the Howard Stern radio show?
FBIi - 4/29/2002 10:55:48 AM SoOoooo, where's JOHN???

Garbageman - 4/29/2002 2:12:24 AM I do like the Lennon album, and saw her with Buckcherry. She's very cool. but how was Daniel Ash?
weezie_ - 4/28/2002 11:27:30 PM Saw Lennon open up for Buckcherry in San Francisco about 6 months ago. This band was utterly and completely awful. So bad in fact I went outside the club after 3 songs to get away from the "Noise" until their set was over. No stage presence, nothing unique and nothing but crappy songs. Horrible band with no apparent talent. I can't imagine Arista would release another album from this group.
