For now, Incision Records will be doing one band at a time, to show support for each act as they progress. The first major release for the label will be a split seven-inch by two New Orleans veterans: EYEHATEGOD and Soilent Green. Limited to 2,000 press, with 500 of them being clear or swirled colors, the split is bound to garner attention for the newly-formed label.
The first actual release was a repress of Incision's only full-time act, the musical misanthropes known as Demise. Incision Records re-released Demise's demo onto CD with new artwork and six of the original eight songs. Early May will see Demise entering Balance Studios (Superjoint Ritual, Soilent Green, EYEHATEGOD, Crowbar, Southern Isolation) to record their first full-length album, which will illustrate the top-notch musicianship and songwriting these youngsters have molded over the last few years. Not to mention engineer Dave Fortman at the helm to master the sound that Demise has grown into.
Keep your ears open this summer for the cutting edge sound of the newly formed Incision Records.
Formed in mid-2001 by friends and members of the New Orleans/Louisiana scene, Ben Falgoust (Soilent Green, Goatwhore) and Jay Branch (SkinKrawL), Incision Records was an idea to further the development of bands from the southern regions of the United States. Due to the lack of label interest from bigger music areas to southern acts, the two have set out to show that there is a mind-blowing amount of talent in the uncharted southern states.
