It was so cool of him - he was so friendly and everyone seemed to jock him hard. We talked about it the rest of the tour. like every day. Here's to Randy - Coolness is never forgotten. | Jeremiah mann DAMN i cannot believe Randy is gone.... it seems that cancer took one other great skin basher Eric Carr and it's quite heartbreaking knowing that i'm a drummer and i wonder if i share that same fate..... I remember when Randy first joined Ozzy back in '86 and i saw the video for "The Ulitmate Sin" and i was hooked.then i had the pleasure of seeing Randy live in person on Ozzy's Retirement Sucks tour in '95 and he looked great and beat the hell outta those drums. Randy you are truly gonna be missed not only as a drummer but an inspration to millions of other drummers besides myself................ Thanks for the memories Randy Love, Jeremiah |

Steve Sequeira To Randy, A drummer myself, I was curious to see the man who replaced Tommy Lee, to see if his chops matched up. Well, simply put, they did. Easily. Also, they were his own stamp/style added to the licks we were accustomed to as Crue fans. Rest in peace brother. All music fans, drummers or not, will miss you. My best to your family and MANY friends...

Freako The Calling, Money comes and money goes Time does the same, only true friendships stay the same, in life or in death, Time passes and time also goes like money, but we need to stay gold, to our friendships, new and old, Death is a part of life, only memories keep friends alive, They now are in a better place, but it's ok, cause we all will be there some day. Bickering and fighting will always be, but discussions when we meet, again, Death use to make me sad, but now I understand that they were "Called" to play music for a different audience. Or make another audience smile, laugh, or anything else that may be needed there. When another person is lost think about how good they were, that they got "Called."

Cancer has taken too many people in this world and each time it's always someone you know or are close to. We will miss you. Have fun in the great gig in the sky. The Freak |

March 28th 2002 - 06:14:56 AM
Patrick Anthony Never fails that you get one asshole in the bunch... Cletus... keep jokin' cause you're probably next fuck-stain. Randy was an amazing person. I remember hearing Sam Kinison talking to the old morning show in Las Vegas at KOMP... Lark and the Byrd. Lark asked Sammy "Who's your favorite drummer?". Sammy said for theatrics... Tommy Lee. For straight up balls to the wall metal... Randy Castillo hands down. Shortly after that, Sam Kinison was killed in a car accident. Well, now they get to jam together! Death is sad and tragic, but life goes on and we must celebrate everyday because you never know when your number is up. Earth is just a temporary place for us all.

Travis Lyons I shocked and saddened by the death of randy. He was one of my first Drumming influences. my father took me too see ozzy on the ultimate sin tour I was in 4th grade at the time. I Got too meet randy 3 years later at a clinic he was doing. He was really nice. I had my picture taken with him and I still have it. I had hoped too meet him again but I guess all I have left is my picture and the tunes. a friend of mine had just told me about it yesterday and my jaw hit the floor. I took this a little hard I guess because of how he died and because of the fact that I could say that I met him. I can just see it now up in heaven Randy R and Randy C lookin too get some band going and god saying I don't think so you guys are too LOUD. (tries too smile). Thanks Randy For that Picture with me. May the lord Be with you.

Rik Schaffer In 95 I quit my band I was in on Priority records called Engines Of Aggression. I wanted to do something more interesting and emotional. Randy got a tape of our songs and loved them. He wanted to come down to jam. The band was called Womb. Randy came in set up his kit with his drum tech and sat down behind them. He was totally cool and friendly. We fired up the first song, and I have to say that he was the most solid drummer I had ever played with. He knew our tape back and front after only having it for like a day or so, and he made us sound incredible. I still remember it fondly. Sadly, I was outvoted by my band who wanted another drummer. I couldn't believe they would want anyone else, but I think there were some concerns that he wouldn't stay with us for long because we weren't signed yet. I had a drink with him after the session. I never saw him again, but I'll never forget his amzing drummer and indian like spiritual presence. Rik Schaffer

Stevie Rachelle / TUFF - www.tuffcds.com Randy was playing drums for Ozzy in March 1984 & Motley Crue opened up, that night alone changed my entire life musically. I once stood on the side of the stage in Phx. (Ozzy/Anthrax tour) & watched his drum solo from a few feet away years later. I remember him smiling at me with taped up knuckles & sweat pouring off him. And I thought this guy is pounding these cans like a fucking monster & he's so relaxed doing it. Most guys look like they're on a bike with no brakes during a drum solo. Randy was a total natural rythmic monster. I also remember looking off the stage & seeing Randy with James Kottack & Nadir Priest during a TUFF video shoot for a pay per view special called "Heavy Metal thunder & Mud." Oddly enough I also moved Randy (and his furniture) from his Hollywood apartment into a house in Studio City when I worked for a moving company. When I got to the door, he looked at me and said "hey, do I know..." as I butted in..."Hey Randy, yeah it's me, where do you want the couch." (both of us laughing). Lastly, I saw Randy a few times a couple years back at The Joint in L.A. with Mike Inez & we rapped for a few short moments, just a hello & what are you doing stuff. Little did I know those few moments spanning nearly 2 decades would be typed here today for obvious reasons. Randy fucking ruled & was a super kind person too. RIP, Stevie

alcindor tsosie well, i never seen randy live, only on ozzy's live videos, but he did make a big impact on me, with his drumming skills on no more tears, and ozzmosis, not to mention early ozzy albums, and motley crue's new tattoo. it's a shame to see a person like him go, i was shocked to see the news on knac, but i'm happy to have grown up on his contribution to heavy metal, ozzy and motley have save me from depression so many times, and to know that randy, save me by saving them, is a real human thing to do, thank you randy for your inspiration, and your gift, my prayers and love go out to you and your love ones, long live rock and roll, and long live heavy metal, may god be with you, rest in peace, my inspiration, your fan from the navajo reservation. alcindor lew tsosie.

Chas When I was playing in Zoe Bonham's band around the L.A. area I met Randy thru friends of Zoe's and his band Azul played her engagement party at the Joint on Pico. Randy was such a nice and generous person. He didn't know me from squat but that didn't matter to him, any friend or bandmate of Zoe's was a friend of his. He let me use his drumkit that night to play w/ Zoe and her Aunt Debbie. Wow. Although our paths only crossed a few times I must say it was a pleasure knowing Randy and He was a great comrad. R.I.P. friend.

Kevin Fobert As Ozzy being my favourite, rock band, I will always miss the beats created by Randy, and also will miss his trademark twirls with his drumsticks. Me being a guitarist, knows how tough it is to find a good drummer, you will always be remembered, and will always hold a great piece in Rock history sincerely Kevin Fobert 17

J. Scribner Me being a guitar player, I don't know much about great drummers, but Randy I did notice. When I read about Randy's passing, it did me a great deal of pain. I was really hoping to hear him start playing again with some other band soon. I just hope that Randy knows that a lot of people care about you and miss you. I know I will. Rock n' Roll forever.

Mark John Randy, you will sorely be missed ... not just by me, but by the millions of people who enjoyed your drumming for ozzy for all those years ... AND personally by me for being such a cool person ... i will never forget the comedy of our trip up north to play san jose/santa clara, san francisco and fresno ... one of the few things from the early 90's that i actually still remember quite well ... R.I.P. brother ... may your spirit live forever, as you have given us something that can never be taken away ...
