TESLA In Scottsdale, AZ With Photos! By CrpnDeth, Staff Photographer/Writer Monday, March 28, 2016 @ 1:26 PM
Well that was kind of odd. Standing at the back of the Showroom at the Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, I swear that was Jeff Keith that just ran across the stage laughing at something. So I start making my way to the front figuring TESLA is getting ready to hit the stage. Leaning back against the wall, I'm double checking the camera settings and a tall security guard walks up and stands next to me, and says "Third row, eight in". OK. One, two, three - one, two, three.....DAMN. Just....damn. "Think you can zoom in on those?" he says with a smile. Won't know until I try ...
I have GOT to start remembering the make up of the crowds that come to Arizona casinos for shows.
Right about the time I recover, TESLA hits the stage with the ever so familiar chords to "Rock Me To The Top" and the show has begun. In no time flat the crowd was on its feet, every person a backup vocalist for the band. Jeff was pacing the stage left to right and back, stepping to the edge to hold out the mic and get the crowd even more riled.
The great thing with TESLA is that they are a high energy, high octane hard rock band. Musicianship is flawless, attitude is light and flowing. You simply can't not have fun at their show. "Edison's Medicine" and "Gettin' Better" carried the momentum from the moment they hit the stage.
The tightness of their playing, as well as an example of their ability to change things up, the band brought out stools and did a quick recap of Five Man Acoustical Jam, playing such acoustic favorites as "Cumin' Atcha Live" / "Truckin'", "Paradise" and of course the cover of "Signs" which will always be a live staple for the band. During this section of the show, there simply wasn't a butt in the seats - everyone was getting loose with the tunes.
They are on tour all summer and in to the fall (on a package tour) so there is simply no reason for you not to get out and have a night of tearing it up.
