FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
ROCKER TO HONOR TWO OF HIS BIGGEST LOVES: COUNTRY AND SOCCER
New York - (Tuffin Entertainment) -- Guitar hero Metal Mike Chlasciak of the bands Halford and PainmuseuM will be paying tribute to the red, white and blue when he handles the National Anthem duties at the Metrostars MLS soccer match on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2003 at Giants Stadium in New Jersey.
"I wanted to do something to show my support for all those young metal heads in the armed services and to show my appreciation to this country which has given me so many great opportunities," says Metal Mike, who emigrated to the U.S. from Poland as a child.
Chlasciak, whose debut CD with Halford went gold, feels that entertainers today are more concerned about sounding cool than standing up for what they truly believe in.
"I'm not a very political person, but I believe that in these turbulent times we have to put aside our differences and stand together in support of this great country," adds Metal Mike.
The game, which kicks off at 7:30 p.m., features the Metrostars versus the San Jose Earthquakes. Attendance for the game is expected to be around 14,000 to 16,000. The Metros are led by World Cup superstars Clint Mathis, Eddie Pope and Tim Howard.
Metal Mike is currently out on the road with Halford, featuring former Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford, in support of their latest CD Crucible (Sanctuary/Metal-Is). He also recently completed work on PainmuseuM's highly anticipated debut CD.
