Cradle of Filth Announces ‘Blood For The Blood Gods’ Co-Headlining Tour with Type O Negative for November
Mannequin DVD EP Slated for December 2 Release Through Red Ink/Epic
The winds howl and darkness enshrouds North America as Britain’s premiere shock-rock innovators Cradle of Filth descend upon our shores to dispense a month-long outbreak of mirth & mayhem with co-headliner Type O Negative and special guest Moonspell. Dubbed, the "Blood for the Blood Gods" tour, Cradle of Filth is anticipated to expand upon their awe-inspiring stage performance that indelibly scarred the minds of Ozzfest concertgoers this summer, as the band headlined the second stage of the renowned traveling festival. Press, as well, was captivated by their inimitable showmanship (which included gruesome stilt walkers, aerial acrobatics, and other visual effects). The New York Times called them “…bombastic…”, The Buzz syndicate described them as “…a macabre version of the Cirque du Soleil”, and Asbury Park Press observed that “moshing came to a standstill as second-stage audience members craned their necks to gawk at this spellbinding sight.”
Vocalist and ringleader of the macabre minstrel show Dani Filth waxes lyrical on the anticipation of the new tour: “We are extremely looking forward to getting back into America and Canada to capitalize on the response we received on the recent summer Ozzfest jaunt...and what better way than by playing with two bands that are not only hewn from the same gravestone when it comes to gothic aesthetics, but also trendsetting, artistic bands that collectively we admire. It will be a wonderfully dark and vampyric tour, and if you miss it you must be either deaf or dead!”
Along the trail, Cradle of Filth will headline the first New Jersey Metal & Hardcore Festival in Asbury Park. This tour continues the band’s support of their 9th studio album and the first for Sony Music (released through Red Ink/Epic), entitled Damnation and a Day, which harnesses the edgiest musicianship and blackened elegance of their careers to date, enough so that the album became the first-ever ‘black metal’ album to invade the Billboard Top 200 chart! Entertainment Weekly said of the album, “it’s over-the-top and surprisingly catchy…”
On December 2nd, Cradle of Filth releases a special DVD EP called Mannequin (named for the video currently in rotation on MTV, FUSE, and MuchMusic, and the single which appears on the recently-released Headbangers Ball compilation). Featured on the DVD will be the “Mannequin” video (directed by Thomas Mignone, who previously worked with Slipknot, Mudvayne, etc.), the “Babalon A.D.” video (which was deemed too extreme for MTV, and directed by WIZ, who previously worked with Marilyn Manson), a live performance video of “The Promise Of Fever”(directed by Cradle guitarist Paul Allender), a “Serpent Tongue” animated featurette (also created by Allender), and a behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of “Mannequin.” Combining performance footage with ghoulish Tim Burton-esque, stop-motion puppeteer work courtesy of George Higham (www.poepuppet.com), “Mannequin” displays the grandiose imagery singular to Cradle of Filth’s style.
Not a band to sit idly and take things slow, Cradle of Filth has a number of additional irons in the fire. Dani has recently lent his psycho-schizophrenic voice to a character the animated film Dominator, which features the band’s song “Carrion” on its soundtrack. Dani is also in talks to reprise his role in a sequel to last year’s cult horror film Cradle Of Fear. January will see the band back in the studio feverishly crafting their next sanguine opus.
