MEGADETH
KILL THE CHARTS AS NEW ALBUM ‘THE SYSTEM HAS FAILED’
ENTERS AT #18;
NEW SINGLE “DIE DEAD ENOUGH” CONTINUES TO GROW AT RADIO
AS VENUES AND SUPPORT ACT FOR TOUR ARE CONFIRMED
Hard rock icons Megadeth have triumphantly reclaimed their place on the Billboard chart, with their new album The System Has Failed (Sanctuary Records) entering the Top 200 Albums chart at #18, selling over 45,000 copies. The new album features the first single “Die Dead Enough,” which is being played on 116 stations nationwide, with a companion video directed by Thomas Mignone.
On the live front, singer/songwriter/guitarist Dave Mustaine and Megadeth will hit the road with support act Earshot from October 23 in Reno to November 20 in Minneapolis. Touring with Dave will be Glen Drover (guitar), and James MacDonough (bass), and Nick Menza returns to the group on drums.
The System Has Failed marks the return of the groundbreaking metal group, which was in jeopardy after Mustaine sustained nerve damage to his left arm while sleeping. After re-mixing and re-producing eight albums from the Megadeth catalog (released in late July on EMI), Mustaine wrote and recorded the new CD, which hit stores September 14. Of the album, Gelu Sulugiuc of Reuters (9/17/04) called it “A vintage Megadeth staple of cynical lyrics, chugging riffs and dueling guitar solos,” and Jon Wiederhorn wrote in the September Revolverthat “anyone questioning whether Megadeth are still relevant need only check out such incendiary tracks as ‘Kick The Chair,’ ‘Something I’m Not’ and ‘Truth Be Told.’” Entertainment Weekly (Nancy Miller, 9/17/04) also praised the album by noting: “…we’re happy to report that Megadeth’s 10th album is also their best since their fourth, 1990’s Rust In Peace.”
Tour dates are as follows:
10/23/04 Reno, NV Reno Hilton
