What's old is new again. Fresh off their 25th anniversary tour and back-to-back Acoustic Adventure albums, Finland's SONATA ARCTICA are back with a new studio album inspired by their early music. Due March 8, 2024 through Atomic Fire Records, Clear Cold Beyond harkens back to the energetic, rapid-paced, Power Metal days of SONATA ARCTICA.
I had the chance to catch up with frontman Tony Kakko ahead of the album's release. Together we discuss the new album Clear Cold Beyond, why the group strayed from their earlier style of music, the stories behind the singles, working with producer Mikko Karmila, signing with Atomic Fire Records, their upcoming tour with TEMPLE BALLS, Kakko's knighthood in Finland, and much, much more.
