Saliva's New Album, Blood Stained Love Story Debut's At #19 on Soundscan Chart By Newsferatu, Writer Wednesday, January 31, 2007 @ 12:17 AM
Island recording group Saliva reels in the highest album chart debut of their career, as Blood Stained Love Story, their fourth album (in stores January 23rd), enters the Billboard 200 at #19-bullet, with a first week Soundscan total of 30,000 sales. “Ladies and Gentlemen,” the album’s first single pick, has found a niche at Mainstream Active Rock (#2), Modern Rock, and Alternative Rock radio formats, and Saliva kicked off their album release as the featured guest on the nationally syndicated radio show “Rockline” with host Bob Coburn on Monday night, January 22nd (www.RocklineRadio.com).
Saliva continues criss-crossing the country on their 10th anniversary headlining U.S. tour, which has kept them on the road with shows in October, November, December, and January. A two-month schedule with South Carolina metal trio Crossfade (Columbia) begins tonight (Jan. 31) with a week of shows in Texas.
Blood Stained Love Story finds Saliva returning to work with Bob Marlette, who produced their first two Island albums. BSLS is the follow-up to Survival Of The Sickest (released August 2004), which debuted at its peak of #20 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. The title tune single, “Survival Of the Sickest,” which was #1 most added at Modern Rock, Rock and Active Rock radio upon its release, was chosen as the official theme song of the WWE’s wildly successful pay-per-view all-star wrestling event, Unforgiven, in September 2006, and reached the Top 10 on the Mainstream Rock chart.
Saliva – singer and lyricist Josey Scott, guitarists Wayne Swinny and newest member Jon Montoya (replacing Chris D’abaldo), bassist Dave Novotny, and drummer Paul Crosby – were formed in Memphis in 1996, and were judged a finalist at a NARAS Grammy showcase competition the next year. After releasing their indie debut album they were soon signed to Island Records, where they recorded the RIAA gold Every Six Seconds (2001, featuring “Click Click Boom” and the Grammy-nominated #3 Mainstream Rock track, “Your Disease,” featured on the Dracula 2000 movie soundtrack); the RIAA gold Back Into Your System (2002, with the #1 Modern Rock track “Always” and its follow-up, “Rest In Pieces,” the first Saliva single to crack the Hot 100); and Survival Of The Sickest (2004).
Between Survival and Blood Stained Love Story, Josey Scott has focused on his acting career, appearing in the film Hustle and Flow, as well as the Aaron Spelling produced television show “Wanted” which aired on the TNT Network.
