Guitarist Steve Stevens Releases New Solo Effort, Memory Crash By Newsferatu, Writer Saturday, February 23, 2008 @ 0:08 AM
After a decade, the much anticipated Steve Stevens solo release is invading the world - Memory Crash releases March 4th, 2008 on Magna Carta Records.
Steven’s spent the last few years out on tour in support of Billy Idol's album The Devils Playground. Once off tour, Stevens spent time orchestrating his new album and signed to Magna Carta Records. He spent the last year meticulously laying down the tracks to his newest guitar masterpiece.
Choosing a very retro-contemporary style, Stevens decided he would make this a very real and well conceived album, something that has not been heard in years. Reasserting the quality that made him a star, Stevens just calls it good old-fashioned rock 'n' roll. It’s just Steve Stevens, his guitar, and his beloved effects – all the ingredients that make's this album a work of genius.
Memory Crash boasts such tracks as “Water on Ares”, “Hellcats Take the Highway”, “Small Arms Fire”, an interpretation of Robin Trower’s’ “Day of the Eagle” (featuring Dug Pinnick of King’s X), and the rousing/psychedelic “Cherry Vanilla.” “I have a lot of weird little segues going on with this record,” Stevens explains. “I’ve always loved that about the prog records, like Dark Side of the Moon. You enter this little theater of the mind. It’s a true headphone experience.”
Memory Crash was recorded and engineered by Steve Stevens and Beazle T. Monk at the Purple Room. Brian Tichy (Billy Idol/drummer) plays all percussion and drums, Stevens’ plays guitar and all other instruments.
