With SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS on hiatus while their top-hatted frontman is on tour with GUNS N' ROSES, bassist Todd Kearns has been keeping himself busy. January 20, 2023 saw the self-titled debut of HEROES AND MONSTERS through Frontiers Music. The project features Kearns on vocals, Stef Burns on guitar (ALICE COOPER) and Will Hunt on drums (EVANESCENCE).

Todd has gone on to tour with the trio, as well as play numerous live shows with his other projects TOQUE and ORIGINAL SIN. During the lockdowns Todd had the opportunity to team up with L.A. GUNS bandmates Adam Hamilton and Tracii Guns to write and record an album for future release. On September 8, 2023, that album was delivered to the masses.

Solsorte is the debut album by BLACKBIRD ANGELS and it features 11 tracks that harken back to the players' influences from the 1970s. I had the chance to catch up with Todd Kerns ahead of the album's release to discuss the new album, how the project came to be, their songwriting process, promoting new music in the modern era, the rigors of the road as the years go on, how he got the nickname "Dammit", the upcoming Blues-influences album by SLASH, and much, much more.
