20th Anniversary Tour Featuring Lacey Sturm Ignites Bayou Music Center On July 25th

FLYLEAF brought their show to Houston on Saturday as part of their first tour since reuniting in 2022. The show was especially notable with Lacey Sturm back in the band, making this tour feel even more special for longtime fans. As the band’s 20th anniversary tour, it was already a highlight for many who had been waiting to see them again. The show was completely sold out, with the room packed full of fans ready to see a band they have loved for years.

Kicking off the night were CLOUD ANHCOR, AKA BOBBY, and RESIDENT HERO. I unfortunately missed CLOUD ANCHOR and only caught the tail end of AKA BOBBY, but I was able to see all of RESIDENT HERO. I heard nothing but great things about CLOUD ANCHOR, and I loved what I heard from AKA BOBBY. RESIDENT HERO was also fantastic, with frontman Ryan White keeping the crowd engaged throughout their set. Each of the opening bands helped set the tone for the rest of the night and got the crowd ready for what was to come.

When FLYLEAF finally took the stage, they put on a fantastic show and added several personal touches that made the night feel even more special. Throughout the set, Lacey repeatedly reached out to the crowd, making everyone at the front feel like she was singing directly to them. She also took time to check in on the audience and give a shoutout to the opening bands, showing just how genuine she is. One of my favorite moments was when she talked about coming up in the Texas music scene, which made the Houston stop feel even more meaningful.

Every aspect of this show was fantastic. The stage setup looked incredible, the lighting added so much to the atmosphere, FLYLEAF’s stage presence was captivating, the vocals were gorgeous, and the setlist was everything I could have hoped for. Whether I was in the crowd or in the photo pit, I could feel the bass in my chest the entire time. Two standout songs for me were “Fully Alive” and “I’m So Sick,” and judging by the crowd’s reaction, I definitely wasn’t the only one. Every member of the band had a chance to show off their talent, and it all came together to make the night one I’ll remember for a long time.

It’s a miracle that this tour is happening in the first place. Guitarist Sameer Bhattacharya had been recovering from a horrible motorcycle accident and hadn’t been able to play. Seeing him perform again, and at the level he did, was almost unreal.

FLYLEAF is continuing their tour through Arizona, California (3 shows at the House Of Blues Anaheim), and Florida (2 shows at House of Blues Orlando). If they’re coming to your area, I can guarantee you won’t want to miss their show.
