'The Blood And Sweat Tour', Featuring LORNA SHORE, FIT FOR A KING, And STATIC DRESS Kicks Off On July 14th At Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater

After months of anticipation, it was finally time for “The Blood And Sweat Tour” to hit the road! This intense lineup brings together infamous metal bands MOTIONLESS IN WHITE, and LORNA SHORE, with support from FIT FOR A KING and STATIC DRESS. My day started with a two hour drive from Massachusetts, to Bridgeport, Connecticut, where the tour will begin its run. This was my first time working at an amphitheater, the stakes felt high. The process was easy enough, and my confidence returned.
MOTIONLESS IN WHITE is a band that I have a personal attachment to. I have been an avid fan since I was fourteen, and tonight will be my eighth time seeing them live. Every single show, they bring an energy that cannot be matched. I am excited to see what kind of performance the boys have in store for this show. The band has a loyal fanbase that are known for traveling and camping. I have met some of my closest friends in line and in the pit at MOTIONLESS IN WHITE shows.
The first band opening up the night is STATIC DRESS. The UK based-band consists of vocals from Olli Appleyard, with Vincent Weight on guitar, George Holding on bass, and drums from Sam Ogden. STATIC DRESS has a very distinct aesthetic, which fits perfectly with their newest album ‘Injury Episode’ released, May 29th. It can be noted that the band has a hardcore essence to it, while still having a metalcore vibe.
Although it was early, STATIC DRESS brought enough energy to have even the seated sections headbanging. Vocalist Olli Appleyard was fun to watch, as he took over the stage. Olli was constantly running around, making it a challenge to capture the moment. I really enjoyed their sound and could see myself going home to binge their discography. I especially liked all of their breakdowns. After my allotted time, I made my way to my seat to watch the rest of the set. I can say with confidence that STATIC DRESS is a band worth seeing.
STATIC DRESS Setlist:
“Nostalgia Kills”
“Pharmacy Film”
“Face.”
“Courtney, Just Relax”
“Death to the Overground”
“Male-bomb”
“human props”
“Classic.Death.Pose”

Next up on this lineup is FIT FOR A KING. The band formed back in 2007, and is from Texas. Tonight is my fourth time seeing them, and I am happy they are on the lineup. I feel the mix of bands perfectly complements the crowd and energy that MOTIONLESS IN WHITE brings. FIT FOR A KING is made up of vocalist, Ryan Kirby, two guitarists, Bobby Lynge and Daniel Gailey, with bass from Ryan O’Leary, and drums from Trey Celaya.
It was refreshing to be able to have a seat to return to after shooting in the pit. I was super engaged with this set and found myself clapping and bouncing around. I'm not very used to seeing shows in the daylight, but FIT FOR A KING killed it. Ryan Kirby owned the stage and Ryan O’Leary was incredible to watch. The crowd was hyped and ready for the bands to follow. I really liked that their closing song was “Witness The End” because it features Chris Motionless.

LORNA SHORE is a deathcore band from New Jersey, best known for Will Ramos’ unique vocals. Once you hear them, you will always be able to point out their songs. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to see them for the third time, as well as it being my second time photographing them. The band is made up of five members, drummer Austin Archey, guitar from Adam De Micco, and Andrew O’Connor, while bass is provided by Michael Yager, and lastly vocals from Will Ramos. You may know them from their most popular song, “To the Hellfire”.
Fog filled the stage as the lights turned to a bright red. LORNA SHORE started with a bang, opening the night with “To the Hellfire”, leaving everybody in the room shocked. I remember turning around, making direct eye contact with a fan and going “Oh my god!” After that song, they played another banger, “Unbreakable”. The sky had finally darkened, and the stage lights were in full effect. LORNA SHORE’S set was very heavy with the red lights, making it tricky to photograph. Will Ramos always blows me away. Although this was my third time seeing them, I still felt starstruck. I had to take a moment to just gaze in awe. The rest of their set was just as intense. People were crowd surfing and falling on the other side of the barricade. LORNA SHORE is a band that I personally would recommend seeing live.
LORNA SHORE Setlist:
“To the Hellfire”
“Unbreakable”
“War Machine”
“Oblivian”
“Into the Earth”
“Glenwood”
“Prison of Flesh”

Recently, MOTIONLESS IN WHITE has been spoiling us with new music, in preparation for the new album ‘DECADES’ which will be released on July 17th. So far, three songs off of this album have been released. First "Afraid of the Dark” was teased at Apocalypse Fest back in November of last year, and officially came out at the end of January. The next song we got was “Playing God (ft. Corey Taylor)” this was a heavier song which debuted in May, featuring vocalist Corey Taylor of SLIPKNOT. Most recently the band gave us “R.I.P. (feat. Skylar Grey)” after teasing the song with the second leg of this tour's dates. (Yes you heard me right, this tour has a second leg!)
These are some of the most talented boys I've ever seen. The band consists of guitar from Ricky (Horror) Olson and Ryan Sitkowski, bass from Justin Morrow, drums from Vinny Mauro, and vocals from Chris Cerulli (Motionless). MOTIONLESS IN WHITE released their first EP ‘When Love Met Destruction’ in 2008, followed by their first album ‘Creatures’ in 2010. You may know them from any of their multiple hit songs such as “Another Life”, "Eternally Yours”, or “Voices”.
The crowd and I had conversed about how badly we wanted Motionless to play the cat visual that they've previously used. To our surprise they did end up throwing that visual onto the screens, and let me tell you the whole stage was covered in screens. The crowd went insane as the lights dimmed and out came MOTIONLESS IN WHITE. They opened the night off with “Sign of Life”, followed by their heavier song “Playing God”. I sang
every word while watching out for pyro. On this tour they also brought along dance group, CHERRY BOMBS. Which fun fact, features Alicia Taylor. MOTIONLESS IN WHITE debuted their cover of “Sunglass at Night” which will be on their upcoming album. The band played a stacked setlist. We had songs that hit every emotion, such as “Masterpiece” and “Eternally Yours” to get us in our feels. They also played some older stuff including “Abigail” off of ‘Creatures’ and “America” off of ‘Infamous’. We were also blessed tonight by having Skylar Grey join the stage for “R.I.P.” This setlist combined with the insane visuals, made for an intense night. If MOTIONLESS IN WHITE is ever in a city near you, go. I promise you wont regret it.
MOTIONLESS IN WHITE Setlist:
“SIgn Of Life”
“Playing God”
“Meltdown”
“Afraid Of The Dark”
“America”
“Slaughterhouse”
“Voices”
“Hollow Points”
“Reincarnate”
“R.I.P.”
“Thoughts and Prayers”
“Sunglasses at Night”
“Undead Ahead 2”
“Not my Type”

In between all of tonight's sets I managed to catch up with one of my friends, Amber. After the show, I asked her for a review. “As a fan, being there for one night was something different; you walked in not knowing what was coming, and that made every moment hit harder. Hearing favorites like “Abigail”, “Undead Ahead 2”, and “Masterpiece” mixed in with heavier songs felt almost overwhelming in the best way, like reliving different eras all at once. When they played RIP with Skylar Grey, and when they played their “Sunglasses at Night” cover, you could feel the energy in the crowd shift. Everyone held onto the moment, matching that intense energy from start to finish. It wasn't just a show, it felt like something you were a part of, that's what made it unforgettable.”
